Kristine just had the biggest shock of her life. She was asked to accept an unwanted crown and marry someone she didn't even know, for some absurd tradition. She refused to accept this and burst out in anger.
"A competition? You're saying that after all these years, I am expected to participate in a contest to become queen of a kingdom that disowned me?"
Prince Claude tried his best to calm Kristine down."It's a complex situation, Kristine. We didn't anticipate your return under these circumstances,", he said. Instead, this fueled her anger even more. Her voice trembled with rage as she spoke the next few words.
"You didn't anticipate my return? You sent me away as a child, left me alone in a foreign land, and now you want me to compete for a crown? This is unbelievable!" she burst out. "I am not going to marry some man I do not love because of some mindless tradition."
Prince Lee sternly said, "Lady, this is about the future of our kingdom, and it now lies in your hands. Please think about us and the kingdom's welfare."
"You can't just expect me to fall into line after abandoning me. I was left to build a life alone while Tuleria continued without me. And now you want me to play a part in your royal games? I DO NOT WANT TO BE QUEEN OR MARRY ANY OF YOU!"
Kristine's gaze shifted between the royals as she looked at their betrayal with sorrow. She took a deep breath, struggling to control her emotions. "I need time to think about this," she said, "it's a lot."
"Take all the time you need," said the king. "But please, be kind, dear."
As she slowly walked out, burdened by this shocking news, her mind was a whirlwind of emotions.
