"I think I'm gonna puke." Ashley panted as he ran behind Vinnie and Lottie up a hill.

"You won't puke, man." Vinnie said to Ash as they stopped.

"I might puke." Ash said hunched over.

"If you tell yourself puking's a possibility, you might puke. You gotta tell yourself you won't puke." Vinnie said barely out of breath.

"How do you run like that?" Ash asked the pair incredulously.

"It's what we do, innit? It turns this off." Vinnie said as he pointed to his head.

"I just do it to stay healthy." Lottie said with a bright smile making Vinnie chuckle.

"I can't do this every day, Vin." Ash said to him.

"Do you wanna lose the fight?" Vinnie questioned.

"No." Ash said strongly.

"Then we've gotta train, Ash." Lottie said hoping to be a bit of encouragement.

"I'm a Dennings. We don't lose fights." Ash said adamantly.

"Brawn's not enough, man. You've gotta have stamina. Do you think Joe Jr is being complacent?" Vinnie asked rhetorically, "He isn't. He's up every morning, crack of dawn, lifting, pushing." Vinnie carried on saying.

"How do you know?" Ash asked his mate wondering how he knew.

"I don't. That's what I'm trying to tell you. You don't know either, do ya? He's a fucking tough lad. If you lose the fight, your family's gonna kill ya." Vinnie said hoping his words were helping somewhat.

"I know." Ash said admittedly.

"You've gotta think of pride, don't ya? Think of honour. More than anything... think of the money we've got riding on it." Vinnie joked which caused them to laugh together.

They all turned up to Jim's farm where the fight was taking place.

"Cardi, do us a solid, dude. Go and ask the Blanes if they're ready. We've got five minutes here." Vinnie asked his mate as he was helping Ash.

"Me?" Cardi stammered scared of the others.

"Yeah, you don't have to fight him, dude. You just have to say, "Are you ready?" Vinnie told him what to do.

"Can I come with you?" Carol asked the boy who she had a big crush on.

"No, I'm good, I'm good." Cardi said as he rushed off to find the Blanes.

"We want fair play. No holding, no biting. Watch your heads. Whoever breaks the rules loses the fight. Otherwise, it's the first one to offer a hand.
May the best man win. God bless you both." The referee said as everyone was stood around the pair ready for the fight.

The group was on one side with the Blanes on the other. Lottie stood just behind the group as she couldn't watch her friend fight.
