You remember the day when everything started as your usual, summer day. You arrived back to your home after a day out with your best friend, when your father called you to his office room to discuss something with you. When you entered, the smile quickly disappeared from your face. Your father was there, behind his desk, a worried look on his face, while your mother looked like she was crying.
"What's going on?" You asked before your father showed you to take a seat on a chair. You did as he wanted, not moving your gaze off them. "What's wrong?" You asked again.
You had a weird feeling in your stomach since you entered the room and you knew something big was happening.
"Y/N. You need to listen to what I'm about to ask from you." He said, making you nod. You didn't exactly have a good relationship with your father, you always thought he always paid more attention to your older sister. "I don't know if your mother told you that my company isn't exactly holding up great for a long time now."
"She told me something, not everything." You said. "Why?"
"We haven't been making the same amount of money as we usually do, and if we keep this up, we're on the verge of bankruptcy. The only way for us to keep working is if we get a partnership with Stark Industries."
"Why are you telling me this?" You asked him, confused. You looked at your mother, who avoided your gaze, her own eyes full of tears.
"We made a deal with the CEO. He will... well, he'll help us if we give him one thing in exchange."
"What?" Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"This was his team's request. It's a way for him to fix his reputation, as well. They want you to marry him."
"What?" You stood up from the chair, not believing your ears. "I'm not going to do that!"
"Calm down!" He stood up as well, growing angry at you. "This is the only way for us to still keep working. If we don't do this, then you can forget all about your comfortable way of living. You won't have any of the things you have now. That man has more than enough money to help us. Think of this as a business transaction."
"Is that really all you think of me? I'm supposed to marry a guy I don't even know and all you can tell me is that you think of this as a 'business transaction'. "
"I'm not saying that. But, we need to give him something in exchange. Come on, Y/N. We can use his resources. We need him. And he needs your help. You can get a divorce later if it doesn't work out. And if it does, you two are going to stay married. Isn't that nice? You can be like your older sister, have a family of your own like she does now? You can make me a proud grandfather."
"I can't believe you." You left his office quickly, not wanting to look at him any longer.
You didn't want to marry this man. He was much older than you, and after your quick Google search, you found out he was involved in numerous scandals. Tabloids declared him as a playboy. He was certainly full of trouble, it followed him wherever he went. But, after your mother had a conversation with you, you realized you had no choice in the matter. This was the only way of helping your family and making your father proud, to make him love you.
You got married to Tony Stark only a couple weeks later. His team even made up a fake story about the two of you having a secret relationship before all of this. They said he proposed to you during your vacation to the Maldives. It was a story that you knew very well now, as you had to repeat it to numerous reporters over the past few weeks of being married to this guy. Nobody realized it was all fake.
You had to move in his house, as well. He made you follow a couple of rules, too. You were the definition of a trophy wife now, the very thing you hated and were afraid of becoming. He only used you to accompany him to different events, where you would play the role of a happy couple. Behind the fake smiles you two showed to the cameras, everything was different. Tony warned you that he had some girl he was seeing, and that you weren't supposed to expect anything from him. He even told you you were free to have relationships as well, as far as it concerned him. He didn't think of you two as a couple and he wasn't planning on letting your marriage stop him from having affairs, and he expected the same from you, as long as you would keep the noise down during nights, because that was usually the time he was spending with those girls, if he didn't take them to a random hotel.
He was cold towards you, and you were convinced he hated you. He was only doing this to fix his reputation, after he helped your father.
And you hated him.
