Request - Angst
Warnings: arguing
Requests are open.
It was another night of Tony working late. You waited for him for hours, after he agreed the two of you will have dinner together tonight. But, you guessed he had too much work again and forgot about the time, just like he had been doing past couple of weeks. He had too much work to do at the company and you understood that, you just hoped that he would spend at least a little bit of his time with you. You couldn't help but feel disappointed after he didn't come home after hours of you waiting for him. Letting out a sigh, you stood up and packed up his plate to pack it up for him. You were about to go upstairs and take a shower when the door to his mansion opened and he walked in, looking tired.
"Hey, you're back." You said, sounding genuinely surprised.
"Yeah, I'll just eat something and then I have more work to do." Tony said, loosening the tie around his neck and walking past you and into the kitchen.
"I just put your plate away." You said, gesturing at where it was so Tony could take it. "I thought you said you were going to be home for dinner tonight."
Tony shrugged as he grabbed a fork."I had work to do at the company."
"I know." You said, placing your hands on the chair and leaning into it as Tony took a seat behind the table."You just said you would."
Tony felt himself growing frustrated. All he wanted to do was come home and eat something in peace before he had to work. But, that was turning out to be hard, because he could hear your tone sounding as if you blamed him for the work that piled up in the company. He took a deep breath to calm himself down, reminding himself that he was tired and frustrated because he wasn't getting proper sleep for weeks now. It wasn't your fault. "Look, can we do this tomorrow?"
You shook your head. "No. Because I know that as soon as you wake up tomorrow, you'll go back to ignoring this problem and you'll keep pretending everything is fine when it's not. So no, we're doing this tonight."
Tony closed his eyes, knowing that he was getting angry. Why couldn't you just understand him? It wasn't easy for him.
Meanwhile, you were feeling completely alone. Ever since Tony and you started dating, you were spending all of the time together, to the point the team had started to tease Tony about it. But, you both knew they weren't thinking anything bad by it. They were just happy to see that Tony finally found someone that makes him happy. You two would always be touching in some way, like during the team meetings where Tony insisted on having you there with him so he could hold your hand, or intertwine your pinky with his, or during movie nights when Tony and you would cuddle on the couch even though Tony had a separate movie room (which you weren't surprised by, honestly) in his mansion, but he wanted to watch the movie in his living room, where you two were able to cuddle together on the couch, or when he was working on his suits when he insisted on having you in the lab with him so you could keep him company. The two of you were basically inseparable. You always had to touch each other, which made sense as your love language was basically physical touch and Tony, being touch starved, loved that. And all of that suddenly disappeared and Tony became distant, barely even talking to you. You couldn't help but feel alone.
"Look, I'm sorry I can't spend all of my time with you, but-"
"I'm not saying that!" You protested."You don't have to spend all of the time with me, but I'm just asking you to have dinner with me and talk to me sometimes. Is that so hard to do?"
"Look, Y/N. I have a lot of work to do. I got a lot of meetings and other important things. I can't just drop all of that and come running home to you as soon as you call. Do you think I like having this much work?" He asked. "I hate it. You have no idea what it's like because you do nothing other than sit around the house. You never do anything. I can't drop everything and come home to cuddle with you, so tone down the clinginess and let me breathe for once. You always have to be with me. Do things without me for once. It won't kill you."
