dont know if this is a actual trigger warning but there is a panic attack in this chapter and possibly the next so two? I guess also I don't really thi k its written like a panic attack and I don't know much about it.

in the bustling city of Hermitcraft, an intricate web of twenty-seven districts thrived, each ruled by their own unique mayor. The air was electric with creativity, laughter, and sometimes mischief, as these builders sculpted their world of vibrant color and imagination. Among them were Gem and Pearl, two mayors who felt distinctly different but shared an inexplicable bond.

Gem, with her fiery red hair that seemed to catch the sun's rays, had emerald green eyes filled with untold stories. She had long been the voice of reason in her district. She was dependable, responsible, but oh, how she often found herself annoyed by mischief, especially when it sprang from Pearl.

Pearl, in contrast, wore her mischievous heart on her sleeve. Her chestnut hair flowed freely down her back like a lazy river, and her expressive blue eyes sparkled with the glint of a playful spirit. Pearl was known for her antics, turning otherwise mundane gatherings into bouts of uncontrollable laughter, often leaving behind a trail of harmless chaos that Gem sometimes found endearing despite her annoyance.

It was on a fine autumn afternoon that Pearl decided to explore the lush hiking trails to better appreciate the beauty surrounding Hermitcraft. She had heard tales of a hidden grove deep within the forest, a mystical place said to inspire creativity in anyone who found it. But as she ventured deeper into the entwined trees and canopies, she quickly lost her sense of direction.

"Where am I?" Pearl muttered to herself, her light-hearted demeanor slipping into a hint of panic. "I could be anywhere in this forest!" Her voice mingled with the rustling leaves, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of dread creeping up her spine.

It wasn't long before Pearl heard it: a faint mumbling echoing through the winding trails. She strained her ears, realizing it belonged to none other than Gem. "What on Earth is she doing here?" Pearl wondered, her curiosity piqued. She had always viewed Gem as a solemn rock, a counterbalance to her free-spirited antics, and now, Gem seemed to be fussing over something unknown.

Meanwhile, Gem had wandered into the woods herself, seeking solace from the responsibilities that piled high with each passing day as mayor. But shortly into her hike, she became disoriented. She paced nervously, mumbling to herself, "I'm such a responsible mayor... How can I be lost? Just breathe, Gem. You've got this."

But the longer Gem traveled the winding trails, the more frantic her internal dialogue became. She felt the panic rising in her chest, her breath quickening. Suddenly, a sharp snap of a twig echoed around her. "Oh no, I'm not alone," she thought, her heart racing as wild scenarios flooded her mind.

Pearl, still following the sound of Gem's voice, pushed through a thick cluster of trees and emerged into a small clearing, only to find Gem, wide-eyed and seeming to battle her own internal storm. "Gem!" Pearl exclaimed, relief mingling with concern. "What's wrong?"

Gem turned towards the sound of Pearl's voice, her breath erratic and shallow. "I... I can't breathe," she choked out, her mind tangled in anxiety and frustration. She felt overwhelmed, the colors of the world around her blurring.

Without thinking, Pearl stepped closer, her inherent mischief giving way to understanding. "Hey, just breathe, okay? Look at me, Gem." Her voice was gentle, soothing, and before Gem could protest, Pearl began to demonstrate. Inhale... hold... exhale...

As Pearl insisted on showing the rhythm of calming breaths, Gem watched her blue eyes focus on her, and slowly something in Gem began to quiet. "What are you doing?" she managed to ask, still struggling to find her center.

"I'm helping you breathe," Pearl replied with a grin, her playful charm shining through even in this moment. "You need to inhale what feels good and exhale what doesn't, like me sneaking cookies from your pantry." The imagery of Pearl's somewhat silly antics made Gem's lips twitch upwards slightly.

After a few more moments, Gem's breathing steadied, gradually syncing with Pearl's instructions. She could now appreciate the humor even amid her anxiety. "How did you even find me here?"

"Oh, you know," Pearl laughed softly, fidgeting with a twig, "I was exploring and completely lost my way. I heard your little mumbling session and thought I'd get my responsible counterpart back on track."

Gem couldn't help but roll her eyes, feeling a blend of exasperation and affection. "You could have called for help instead of wandering into the wilderness like some forest nymph."

"Forest nymph?" Pearl laughed, her eyes dancing with delight. "That's a new one! I'm definitely going to have to use that for my next prank."

A smirk formed on Gem's lips as the tension evaporated, replaced by the warmth of companionship. "Just... don't let it become a habit, alright?"

"Sure, sure," Pearl replied, waving her hand dismissively. "But think about it this way, Gem. You're not just the responsible one. Sometimes you need a little chaos to remind you that life is meant to be fun."

With that, they set off together, side by side as they navigated the forest. The atmosphere shifted, the woods becoming a canvas of shared laughter and stories, the earlier panic fading into an adventure. Through every mischief Pearl harbored, Gem found moments that tempered her annoyance with a newfound understanding: trust the unpredictability of friendship, because in those moments of chaos, perhaps lay the true beauty of being a mayor in the whimsical city of Hermitcraft.
