CHAPTER FIVE

Alana

Dragonstone

*SMUT WARNING*

As tears fell from my mother's face her hand rose and she smacked Jacerys across the face. My body that had been protecting Lucerys from Jace had now been wedged in between my mother and Jacerys. My body facing Jace as I placed my hands on his chest to force him to back up and away from her.

He'd never hit a woman but I could not risk him getting in her face and shouting at her. Making matters worse. As I felt my hands on him I realized we had been touching for the first time in a week since I'd met with him outside by the water.

Ser Criston quickly ruined that by pulling me away from me and shuffling me across the room and practically holding me there as a hostage. My father had escorted Luke to his chambers and Baela just stood there completely lost. I felt awful for her.

"Release me." I tell Ser Criston. "I command you to release me. You are my sworn sword and you take your orders from me!"

He shook his head. "I take my orders from your mother and father."

"I could have you killed... Easily. I know where the weak spots in your armor are. I could easily-"

"Alana." Criston breathed. "Allow me to take you back to your chambers."

            "No."

"Alana..." He lowered his voice. "Allow me to take you... To someone's chambers then."

I furrowed my brows in confusion when I noticed Criston's eyes flicker to the side. I mouthed "Jace?" and Criston nodded. "Alana, please allow me to escort you back to your chambers."

I nod and release a shaky breath. "Thank you, Ser Criston..."

"Princess Rhaenyra, I'm going to escort Princess Alana to her chambers." Criston said firmly and held me gently by my arm.

My mother waved him off with tears in her eyes. "Do as you must. Get her out of my sight. I don't wish to see her."

She's upset but her words have cut me deeply. I leave tomorrow for Winterfell and she no longer wishes to see me... Her only daughter... I stand there for a moment until Ser Criston thankfully whisks me away like the knight in shining armor he is.

True to his word, Ser Criston does not bring me to mine own chambers. He brings me right to Jace's and waits outside the door. I sit on the bed and I see his trunk of belongings that he's collected in his travels and mainly his time spent in Driftmark.

Curiosity gets the better of me and I find myself looking through his things. Journals with sketches of ships and notes he'd taken while on those ships. How to maintain the decks and a few other things that it seems like spritz of water had gotten onto and ruined the ink.

All this paper and he could not write to me...

Not a raven? Not a single letter? Nothing? His words ring like bells in my mind. Yet not once did he attempt to write to me.. Not to ask how I was or if I missed him. Because I did... I always missed him when he was not around. Even when we were younger and he paid no attention to me. I missed him. I longed for him..

Which is how I made my way to his chambers that night. I missed him and I wanted to see him. I wanted to know him. I wanted to feel him. When I had gone to his room that night I knew what I wanted... I just didn't know what that night would turn into.
