Bong bit her lip nervously as she stared down at the spoiled papers in front of her, drenched in protein shake. Beside her, Soohee's eyes welled up with tears.
It had all started so innocently. Bong had eaten Soohee's pastry which soohee's mother had bought from the market while Soohee was in the washroom.
Soohee had chased after her for it. The two girls had unknowingly entered Jeon Jungkook's room. In their frantic pursuit, Soohee tripped over the edge of the carpet and collided with the table near the window.
That was when everything spiraled out of control.
On the table lay a stack of important looking document files that belonged to Jungkook. Right beside them was a tall glass of protein shake perched on the edge. As Soohee stumbled, her hand knocked the glass over, spilling the thick liquid all over the papers. The files were completely ruined, the ink smearing and the papers curling at the edges from the moisture. Now both girls stood frozen, staring at the mess they had created.
Jungkook wasn't home right now, thankfully. He was still at the office. But Soohee knew with a gut-wrenching certainty that once he came home and saw the damage, he would know it was her fault. There was no way to escape it. And worst of all, this time not even their parents would come to her rescue. She was fully responsible for the disaster.
"B-Bong, what am I gonna do?" Soohee stammered, biting her nails in fear. "Jungkook-shi is going to kill me! He's going to be so mad!"
Bong reached for one of the soaked papers, her face contorting into a grimace as liquid dripped off the edges. She gave Soohee a sympathetic look. "Even I don't know what to do, Soo Soo... I'm really sorry. It's because of me. I shouldn't have eaten your pastry and we shouldn't have come in here in the first place."
Soohee shook her head. "It's not your fault. What's done is done. But what are we gonna do?"
Bong sighed deeply. She wanted to help but even her mind felt foggy with stress. And as always when she was stressed, she was hungry. "I don't know, " she rubbed her forehead. "I'm still hungry, and my brain doesn't work well when I'm hungry."
Soohee let out a groan of frustration, pacing back and forth as anxiety gnawed at her insides. Jungkook never really scolded her but when he was upset, his strict tone and the way his eyebrows furrowed were enough to terrify her.
She could already picture the scene in her head. Jungkook walking in, noticing the ruined documents and slowly turning to look at her with that scary look. The thought made her stomach churn with dread.
"I just....I don't know how to fix this. Should we try to clean the papers? No that's stupid. It's already too late..."
Bong watched her friend with growing concern. She wasn't used to seeing Soohee so panicked and it was making her feel guilty. She had to do something, but what?
