"Bong Bong, not again." Soohee warned in edge of exasperation as she shot a sharp look at Bong. Her narrowed eyes clearly signaling her disapproval. Despite the caution, Bong only smiled sheepishly, completely undeterred by her friend's stern expression.
"Come on Soohee, it's the last time I'll do this prank call. It was fun last time." Bong pleaded but Soohee wasn’t having it.
She snorted in response and her attention quickly shifted back to the other side of the room where her homework lay waiting. The quiet scratching of her pen against the paper was the only sound in the room now.
Seeing that her attempt at persuasion had fallen flat, Bong's face immediately fell, her earlier enthusiasm fading into a crestfallen pout. She felt a pang of disappointment at being so easily brushed off and ignored.
They were at Soohee's house; supposedly to do their homework together and maybe squeeze in some time to play the new video game Soohee had just bought. Soohee was especially excited about the game, she was practically obsessed with video games and always had the latest ones.
"Soo Soo..." Bong's voice trailed off as she called out softly trying once more to capture her friend's attention. But Soohee didn’t respond continuing to work diligently.
Bong puffed her cheeks in frustration as she felt increasingly sidelined. However, her mischievous cat-like eyes quickly gleamed with a new idea. Bong had never been one to let a little rejection stop her from having fun. If Soohee wasn’t going to join her in her antics, then Bong would just have to amuse herself.
Moving silently, Bong slipped her old phone out of her bag, the device worn but still functional. Her fingers danced across the screen as she scrolled through her contacts, landing on a number she hadn’t bothered to save. Without a second thought, she hit the call button.
The first call rang and rang with no answer. Bong's grin faltered slightly but her resolve remained. She tried again and this time the call was immediately cut off. Undeterred, she dialed a third time only to be met with a series of beeps—he had blocked her.
"Great." Bong muttered under her breath. Her excitement deflated immediately. She leaned against the desk, her chin propped up on her hand as she watched Soohee who was still completely engrossed in her homework oblivious to Bong's little escapade.
Bong’s gaze drifted to the open textbooks scattered across the desk. The sight of all that academic material made her face scrunch up in disgust. She hated studying with a passion. Numbers, equations and historical dates—all of it made her head spin. She glanced back at Soohee who seemed perfectly content buried in her work and sighed heavily.
With a heavy sigh of resignation, Bong finally gave up and reluctantly opened her textbook. Homework wasn’t something she did often. After all, what harm could a little daily punishment do? The teachers seemed to think that a scolding and a public reprimand would shame her into compliance but little did they know, Bong Cha had long since become shameless. She didn’t care about their disapproving glares or their futile attempts to embarrass her in front of the class.
