The next day the Johnsons woke up late but tried to stick with their routine for the rest of the day, Sarah and Mrs. Rachel knew they couldn't stay in bed crying all day or they would fall into a pit from which it would be difficult to get out. They had left quite a bit pending before leaving and the summer vacation would end in 1 week, so they had to get all their affairs sorted out. That week they spent the week buying school supplies for Sarah, as well as the paperwork that Mr. and Mrs. Johnsons needed at work. Neither of the 2 Johnson women wanted to return to work or school. Neither of them was prepared for their friends and colleagues to ask them how they were and to give them their condolences because it was like reliving everything, but the days progressed, and it was inevitable that Monday would arrive.
That day when the alarm went off, Sarah woke up with a sigh and sat on her bed for a while, just looking at the floor and thinking about the day that awaited her, she was clearly not eager to start a new semester, but at that moment a flash caught her attention and she looked at the golden clock that was on her dressing table, At that moment she knew, she would use the watch and then she would feel that her grandmother was accompanying her in her last semester of high school, as if a spring had propelled her she quickly got out of bed and began to get ready to go to school. Once she had dressed, she took the golden watch very carefully, as if it was going to break at any moment and put it on, she immediately felt the cold of the metal as it contacted her skin and a smile appeared on her face at the thought that, after all, she would not be so alone that day.
As soon as she went downstairs Mrs. Rachel turned to tell her that breakfast was ready, but immediately her gaze was focused on the golden watch on her daughter's wrist, her calm expression quickly changed to one of surprise and to her mind came the memory of her mother dressed in one of the outfits she liked to wear so much combined with that same golden watch, so it was inevitable that her eyes would fill with tears. As soon as Sarah noticed this change in her mom she tried to take off the watch, maybe it was still too early to use it, but Mrs. Rachel stopped her and told her that she didn't need to take it off, that it would give her luck to start the new semester, Sarah nodded and hugged her. After that, the Johnsons sat down to lunch quickly, and once everyone was ready, they left for their jobs and school.
Mrs. Rachel is an important lawyer, the best in town. Bold and determined in judgments, 2 qualities that she had inherited from her mother. Mr. Walter is a renowned civil engineer who works in an important company, he is a very intelligent and analytical man. As you already knew, as soon as Mrs. Rachel entered the offices her colleagues and friends ran to offer their condolences with words like "She's already in a better place" or "In time it will hurt less". Mrs. Rachel could only nod with a grimace and thank them for their support and understanding and headed to her office to start the week's work.
On the other hand, Sarah was also received at school by her friends who gave her condolences with those same words. The rest of the day went normally, until calculus class arrived, Sarah and her friends only liked that class when they understood the subject and, because it was the first day of school and the last subject of the day, they did not have much desire to pay attention. After a few minutes after class started and, because they were forbidden to use the phone, one of her friends asked Sarah for the time, but when she was about to see the time marked on her watch she realized that she had run out of battery, so she made a mental note to put a new battery on it as soon as she got home. After what seemed like an eternity, class finally ended, and the friends said goodbye to go home and rest.
Once the Johnsons arrived, they gathered in the dining room to enjoy the pasta that Mrs. Rachel had prepared. Sarah asked her parents how they had been at work and so the three began to exchange the day's adventures. Mrs. Rachel told them about the moment she had with her colleagues and how she was grateful because everyone had been quite kind and understanding, Sarah commented that she had also had a similar experience and Mr. Walter told them about the new project he would be working on in the coming months.
