Then, as if a spotlight had lit up in his brain, he remembered that he did indeed have the power to do so. His gaze quickly focused on the clock, and he thought that if it was possible to go back or forward hours in time, perhaps it was also possible to do so for years. If she could get the clock to turn back far enough, then she could warn her grandmother of what would happen. Her mind did not stop thinking about this idea and when she got home, she ate the salad that her mother prepared as quickly as she could and got up from the table with the excuse that she had enough homework. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, just looked at her in surprise, but they knew it was normal to have too much homework at that level, so they wished her luck to finish soon.

Sarah immediately ran upstairs. The truth was that she didn't have as much homework as she had said, but she wanted to start planning her trip back in time and how she would warn her grandmother of what would happen. She was smart enough to know that she couldn't just go to the past and say "Grandma, you have to go to the doctor because I come from the future and metastatic cancer will end your life", there could be many disastrous scenarios, for example, her grandmother could get angry at such a shocking statement, or she would simply ignore her. In addition to the fact that he did not know what consequences there could be in the future. So far, moving forward or backward in time, there had not been a disaster in the space-time line, but they were only short trips of hours, not years. But Sarah had convinced herself that, if the universe or whatever it was, had given her that power it was precisely to save her grandmother and that is what she would do.

She was also aware that she couldn't go back too many years since she wouldn't know how to explain her appearance as a 17-year-old girl, when in the past she should have been 5 or 10 years old, so the most she could go back would be 3 years, which was fine. If she went back just one year, the cancer would already be quite advanced, but if she managed to go back 2 or 3, then her grandmother would have time to start chemotherapy treatment in stage 1 or 2 of the tumour. There were quite a few things to think about, besides, Sarah was afraid of pushing the clock too hard and that it would break, because then she would be trapped in the past.

The plan was clear, how to carry it out not so much. Sarah didn't plan to do it just because she wanted her grandmother to come to her graduation, she did it because she really missed her, her hugs and her late-night talks. In addition, she knew that her aunts and mother would have liked to be with her for many more years. They say that people's lives are like a candle and that as the years go by, it is consumed, until it goes out and with that your life ends, but Sarah believed that it was not time for her grandmother's candle to go out, she believed that someone had blown the flame so that it would be consumed. It didn't make sense that 2 Christmases ago she was healthy and radiant at the party, singing carols and breaking the turkey, and that 1 year ago she could barely get out of bed to celebrate.

To get something right you need practice, so Sarah planned to first start going back a few weeks and, if she saw that there were no disastrous consequences, then she would go back a few months, until she had the confidence that she could go back a couple of years. Soon his notebooks were filled with handmade notes and timelines, in which he planned everything to succeed. This took him a couple of weeks and when he agreed, it was already September. His favourite times were coming. She loved how her mother decorated with pumpkins and scarecrows to welcome autumn, in addition to the famous pumpkin pie that she prepared every year and that was already a tradition.

The leaves of the trees gradually lost their characteristic green colour to yellow and orange tones. Mrs. Rachel looked better, the memory still hurt, but every day she managed to get over the loss a little more. In addition to the fact that she was quite busy in a trial that had already lasted weeks. That weekend he would have to go once again to defend his client, so he would not be home all Saturday. Mr. Walter would also have to leave since the company he works for sent him to another city to supervise a project. Sarah saw in that weekend her opportunity to practice time travel.
