You take a deep breath, inhaling the acrid smoke of your cigarette as you sit restlessly in the dimly lit living room. Your leg bounces nervously, an unconscious tic betraying your anxiety. The muffled sound of running water from the bathroom serves as a constant reminder that Jungkook is still in the shower.
You take a deep breath, the tension in your shoulders easing slightly when you finally hear the sound of the door unlocking. He takes a bit longer to emerge from the bathroom than you had anticipated, leaving you to fidget with the hem of your shirt in the meantime. But when he finally steps into the living room, a towel wrapped snugly around his waist and that wide, disarming smile gracing his lips, your heart skips a beat. "Hi! I didn't know you were here already," he says, his voice bright and cheerful.
He leans in to kiss you softly on the cheek, but in that moment, you find yourself unable to respond. You're frozen, paralyzed by a rush of emotions as you simply stand there. The warmth of his presence envelops you, and for a fleeting moment, the world outside the living room fades away.
Jungkook ruffled his damp hair, droplets of water cascading down his neck. The scent of his body wash, something citrusy and fresh, filled the air. You wanted to reach out, to trace the curve of his jaw, but the moment stretched, and you remained still.
"Everything okay?" He tilted his head, concern flickering in his dark eyes.
"Yeah, just... lost in thought," you replied, your voice catching slightly. The weight of unspoken words hung heavy between you.
He moved closer, leaning against the back of the couch, arms crossed casually. "About what?"
You hesitated, scanning the room as if the walls might offer an answer. Everything felt overwhelming. You turned your gaze back to him. "let's get a drink"
The moment you finish speaking, Jk heads to the fridge and retrieves two canned wines, along with two glasses from the counter. He remains silent, his gaze locked onto yours.
You remain standing, your arms awkwardly hanging at your sides, occasionally glancing up to gauge his expression.
"Planning to say something? Or should I pencil you in for tomorrow?" he quips, his sarcasm only intensifying your unease.
You shift uncomfortably in your spot, your fingers fidgeting before reaching for the drink. His expression seems cautious, a mix of concern and wariness etched across his features. Jungkook's brow is furrowed, his lips pressed into a thin line, looking like he's annoyed by something. The tension in his jaw is palpable, and it only serves to intensify your growing unease, making you feel worse with each passing moment of silence.
"I'm gonna have to move out" You finally say.
Jungkook's face hardened at your words. The wine can he held in his hand crinkled slightly under his grip. "Move out? Why?" His voice, usually warm and inviting, turned cold.
You took a deep breath, steeling yourself for the conversation you had been dreading. "My agency suggested relocating a few months ago. They think it's necessary for my career. And now, it's finally happening."
Jungkook's eyes narrowed, the hurt in them clear. "You didn't think to mention this before?"
"I didn't know how," you admitted, feeling a lump in your throat. "I was trying to find the right moment."
"The right moment?" He shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. "And when would that be? When you're already gone?"
You winced at the edge in his voice. "It's not like that. I didn't want to hurt you."
