Brendon paced furiously, running his fingers through his hair. He needed to say something. He needed to tell her that he loved her. He had always loved her. But Brendon didn't know if it was too late. There was a wedding tomorrow. He had been invited by her because they were best friends. The guy she was marrying didn't deserve her. He didn't treat her properly. She had cried on Brendons shoulder so many times because of him. Brendon never understood why she kept going back to him when he caused her so much heartache.
Brendon knew that he should have made a move a long time ago. Her and Brendon had been best friends forever, so it's not like he didn't have the opportunity.
As if on cue, Brendons phone rang. He looked at the caller ID. It was her.
"Hey?" He said into the phone. Brendon stopped pacing and finally sat down. Now, his leg was jiggling. Anxiety, great stuff 👌 🙄.
"Hi,B, I was wondering something." She said.
"Ok?" Brendon was curious now.
"Do you think I am doing the right thing marrying Dayne? I mean, he makes me happy MOST of the time. I guess that is better than not at all, huh?"
Brendon sighed, closing his eyes, thinking of a good answer.
"Listen, I can't tell you what to do. It has to be your decision. Think with your gut. That's all I can say." There were a few seconds of silence at the other end.
"Thank you, B." She said. "I guess it's pre wedding jitters or something." She laughed.
"Yea, that's probably it." Brendon laughed. They chatted a while longer before saying their goodbyes. Brendon held his cell phone and scrolled through the photos of her that he had on his phone. He traced her face with his fingertip.
Brendon went to his contacts and called Spencer.
"Dude, can you come over?"
"Sure." Spencer replied.
20 minutes later, Spencer was at Brendons apartment.
"You ok, man?" Spencer asked, hugging Brendon. He knew the answer already.
"Really not." Brendon said as they both sat on the couch. Brendon exhaled loudly. He then told Spencer about the phone call he had just had with her.
"Bren, I have told you the whole time we have all been friends to do something about this. You could have been marrying her tomorrow, not Dayne." Spencer said, drinking some non alcoholic beer. Brendon nodded, knowing that Spencer was right.
They decided to play some Fortnite and order a pizza. Brendon was glad to have Spencers company this evening. He knows that he would be overthinking everything.
Brendon took another sip of beer and got ready to start another round of Fortnite.
Spencer finally left around 11pm. Linda had messaged, asking what time he was coming home. He hadn't even realised the time.
He offered for Brendon to come and hang out with him tomorrow after the wedding. Spencer knew that Brendon would need the support.
Brendon cleaned up the beer bottles and empty pizza box before turning the lights off and going to bed.

Brendon woke up and realised that today was the day. It was the day he had been dreading for 2 years. The wedding.
Brendon swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. He used the bathroom and made some coffee and breakfast. He scrolled on his phone when a message pinged up from her.
'Hi, I am feeling a little better today. I will see you at the wedding. Love ya 😘 x' Brendon smiled at the last bit.
'Hey, I am glad you are feeling better. In case I don't get a chance to say it, you look beautiful today. Right back at ya 😘 x'
Brendon finished his coffee and breakfast. He went to get showered and dressed. Brendon had a shave and stepped into his underwear. He looked at himself in the mirror. Could he actually do it? He was considering telling her how he felt. Before the wedding. As Brendon contemplated, Spencer knocked at the door along with Linda.
"It's open!" He called out and sprayed some deodorant on. Spencer walked into the bedroom.
"Hey, man. You good?" Brendon nodded. He picked the crisp white button-up laid out on his bed and slipped it on. Spencer went to chat with Linda, whilst Brendon continued to get ready. Once he was in his navy blue suit and tie, he put the black dress shoes on and styled his hair. That took longer than the shower and dressing put together! Once Brendon was happy with his hair, he stepped into the living room.
Spencer whistled. Linda laughed at her husband.
Brendon ordered the Uber and they sat and chatted, waiting.
It arrived, and they all got in and headed for the wedding venue.
"Brendon, are you going to speak up?" Linda asked gently.
"I don't know." Brendon said nervously. He chewed his lip in thought.
It took a little while to get to the place because it was outside of the city. Brendon knew they were nearly there because there was a trail of decorations leading to it.
Brendon deeply sighed.
They got out of the Uber. Brendon saw Dan and Mike. He went over and greeted them.
Everybody was milling around mingling with each other. Nicole, the maid of honour, dressed in a purple bridesmaid dress, came searching for Brendon.
"Bren, thank goodness! She wants to see you." Nicole said. Brendon went with her, up to the room. As soon as the door opened, she whipped around.
"Bren!" She said and hugged him.
"What's wrong?" Brendon asked, holding her at arms length. His brow furrowed with worry.
"I can't do it!" She said. "I can't marry Dayne!"
"What? Why not?"
"It doesn't feel right."
"Look, you are nervous. It's normal to feel nervous. Once you see Dayne waiting, then you will forget everything else." Brendon hugged her as she smiled.
"Thanks, Bren." She kissed his cheek. Brendon left and went back outside. It was time to sit in their seats. Brendon sat down along with the rest of the band. Dayne arrived with his best man, Pete. Pete gave a thumbs up to Dayne.
Everybody stood up at the brides imminent arrival. Brendon closed his eyes and swallowed. She still didn't look happy as she started the walk down the aisle on her fathers arm. She passed Brendon and looked at him, smiling.
The service started. There was a pause when the minister asked if anyone objected to the marriage. Nearly every head looked Brendons way, even hers.
Did everyone know how he felt? So Brendon decided to speak now. He stood up and cleared his throat. Her face lit up when she saw Brendon stood up.
