Manik's POV:
I woke up when I felt someone hugging me tightly. As I opened my eyes, I saw my mate, sleeping peacefully while holding me close. She looked so innocent and breathtakingly beautiful. I wrapped my arms around her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
A few hours later, I felt her stirring in her sleep. Slowly, she opened her eyes, and our gazes locked. For a moment, we just stared at each other. I gently brushed a few strands of hair away from her face, tucking them behind her ear. She closed her eyes and gripped my shoulders tightly. As I softly caressed her cheek, she suddenly got up in bed, startled. I sat up too, right beside her.
"Are you okay?" I asked, really worried.
"Please let me go," she whispered, her voice trembling. I could see the fear in her eyes, and it made my heart ache.
I also felt a surge of anger rise inside me. Why does she always talk about leaving? She is mine, and I won’t let her go, no matter what. But I knew I had to stay calm. I took a deep breath, pushing down the anger, and looked at her.
“I’ve told you before, and I’m telling you now, this is the last time,” I said, my voice firm. “You can’t leave me. You belong to me, and I won’t let you go.”
I needed her to understand that no matter what, I wasn’t going to let her slip away from me.
"I don't want to stay with you. You can't force me," she said, as she got out of the bed.
I grabbed her arms gently, and, pulled her onto my lap.
“No matter how many times you try to leave,” I whispered in her ear, “I will always find you and bring you back.”
“You need to accept that you’re mine, Nandini," I said angrily.
I heard her sob, and it broke my heart. I didn't mean to scare her. My wolf growled in anger. Gently, I helped her sit back on the bed and carefully wiped away her tears with my thumb.
“Please don’t cry, love,” I said softly. “I can’t stand seeing you like this.”
“Why is life so unfair to me?” Nandani asked, her voice choked with tears. She looked up at me, her eyes red and full of hurt.
I was confused and sad as I looked at her.
"I want to go back to my parents,” she cried, her voice trembling.
“Hey, look here. Look at me," I said gently, holding her small hands in my larger ones. I looked into her tear-filled eyes. “I’ll take you to your parents. I promise.”
"I need to die to meet them", she cried, her voice breaking.
"What do you mean, Nandani?" I asked, confused.
"They left me and went to God", she cried bitterly. "They are dead."
I wrapped my hands around her and rubbed her back.
