The pain was immaculate, crashing down on Saneul like a thousand meteorites at a time.

Her mind was caught up in a heavy thunderstorm, his words echoing in her mind. Everything around her blurry. The reality of her breakup came cascading down on her body, leaving an empty hole in her heart.

She did not know when she fell asleep or how she fell asleep, all she could remember was the endless stream of tears that ran down her face from the moment Taesan left the house.

When she woke up that morning, she wished she didn't. It was a new year. Everyone was out celebrating with their friends or family, or even their significant other. Another painful reminder of how she just got dumped leaving her to be alone on a day meant to be spent happily with him.

She didn't understand why things fell apart. Why couldn't they just fight harder for the relationship to work? It was a simple problem with simple solutions. He didn't have to bear the weight of the relationship alone. Why did it have to turn out this way?

Slumped against her bed frame, she stared blankly at the digital clock in her room illuminating number that she couldn't even absorb in. The numbers changed and yet Saneul couldn't even focus. She felt completely numb.

If Taesan was here right now, he'd be attacking her with either kisses or tickles, and she would retaliate back with her foot as a warning, to which he would only continue to attack back with a look fuelled with competitiveness.

"HAHAHA Stop tickling me bro-"
"BRO??? Again?? Oh you're so asking for it. Come here!"

A bittersweet feeling surged through her. She could almost picture the way his charming smile would light up the room as she squirms in his hold which he would just call adorable even if she was trying to escape his grasp.

After what happened last night, she knew she wasn't going to contact him, but she still clicked upon his chat. She checked it so often, even scrolling past chats and the shared group chats they were in but his replies were almost non-existent.

The stinging pain in her eye every time she blinked reminded her of how bloodshot and puffy her eyes are. Even without looking at the mirror, she just knew she looked like a mess.

She didn't want to get up, wanting nothing more than just to rot in bed, turn back time and pretend none of this ever happened.

"Knock knock! Happy New Yea- oh my God."
