Chapter XXIII "Family Visit"
The Weasley's left a day later and Charlie spent most of the time at the sanctuary since the baby dragon was supposed to hatch any day now. Avalea wrote to her great uncle and invited him and his wife for a tour before the big family reunion a couple days later. Avalea prepared the house for their arrival since Newt promptly wrote back that he would be here with Tina after breakfast. Bill was quite nervous to meet the Newton Scamander and it showed a little.
"Will, don't be nervous. They're going to like you I promise." Avalea said to comfort him right before they heard a ruckus, indicating they had arrived by floo. Charlie would be there as well of course and she hadn't told him that Newt would come. After she prepared everything she brewed some tea and finished the last touches when they heard two cracks and walked towards it. Her breath caught when she saw them for a second and then she smiled and embraced them.
"Aunt Tina, uncle Newt, it's so great to see you. It's been so long." Avalea said. Tina hugged her first.
"Avalea, look at you, looking like your grandmother and mother more everyday. How are you?" Tina told her and gasped. Bill walked into the room and looked at the two Scamanders. They had gotten a little older than how he saw them in the family photo, after all they were both in their nineties but still seemed quite fit.
"Tina is right. You have a lot of Alethea in your face." Newt told her and hugged her.
"I'm great, how are you two doing? How is the retirement treating you?"
"Great honestly, my brother-in-law visits a lot, both of them actually but your dear uncle here keeps wandering around town looking for magical creatures and brings them into the house."
"How is Uncle Theseus and Jacob?" Avalea asked.
"Jacob is doing okay, getting a little more frail. He's still very heartbroken but his daughter takes care of him and brings around the grandkids a lot."
"Please tell him hello when you next see him." Avalea said and suddenly heard the tea kettle. "Oh right, I made tea. But before I want you to meet my fiancé William Weasley." Avalea said and introduced Bill.
"It's very nice to meet you William. Any relation to Arthur Weasley?" Tina asked and shook his hand.
"I go by Bill mostly. It's very nice to meet you too, Mr and Mrs Scamander. A high honour to meet you two. Yes Arthur Weasley is my father." Bill greeted them and they all sat down for tea.
"So Bill, what do you do?" Newt asked.
"I work for Gringotts as a Curse-Breaker." Bill said. Avalea smiled as he started to talk energetically about his work.
"That sounds very interesting, I don't think we have a job like that in America but then again I haven't lived there in quite a while, so what do I know." Tina said.
"You grew up in America?" Bill asked intrigued by the information.
"Born and raised on the East-Coast. My sister and I lost our parents quite young and had to raise ourselves after that, we attended Ilvermorny and moved to New York when we were grown. I worked as an auror in New York when I met Newt." Tina told Bill and smiled at her husband.
"Ilvermorny, I haven't heard alot about the other wizarding schools. How different is it to Hogwarts?" Bill asked.
"Ilvermorny, the North American wizarding school was also a castle and stands on the highest peak of Mount Greylock. There are four houses, Thunderbird, which I was in, Wampus, Horned Serpent and Pukwudgie. I remember the sorting ceremony like it was yesterday, Instead of just getting a hat placed on your head which yells the house Ilvermorny had a Gordian Knot on the ground of the Great Hall with a wooden statues of the houses which would light up when a student stepped on it. From what Newt told me some subjects differed between our schools, some subjects that Hogwarts had we didn't have and vice versa." Tina told him.
