Riley's POV

I flutter my eyes open as I wake up, the sunlight greeting me as I squint, I turn on my back and stare at the ceiling, blinking a few times to make sure I'm actually alive.

I hate this part of waking up.

Once I've regained some of my consciousness, my eyes widen as I recall what happened yesterday. I turn my head to my left, and see the other half of the bed empty.

Was it really a dream?

Of course it was, it was too crazy to be true.

But it felt so real...

I shrug. Oh well, guess that nightmare is ov-

"Morning!"

"Motherfuck!" I shriek as I stare at a fully dressed Riley, holding a tray in her hands with a big smile spread on her face.

Why is she always smiling?!

"Made you breakfast sleepyhead!"

I look around the room, then at her, then point my finger at myself as if asking "who, me?"

"Yes, you!" She laughs as she sets the tray on my lap, the smell of delicious pancakes hitting my nose and I was this close to drooling at the sight.

"Oh, thank you..." I'm still not over the fact that she made me breakfast. I know, in the book, I wrote her out as someone who enjoys cooking and she always prepared breakfast in bed for her teacher/lover or a surprise dinner, which back then I thought was cute. Now though in this case it just seemed...weird?

I take a bite, my eyes widen and a moan leaves my lips. I practically inhale the food in front of me, enjoying the sugary syrup and buttery pancakes while sipping the fresh orange juice she brought.

I could fucking kiss myself for making her character a good cook.

I nearly jump out of my skin when I look up and see Riley still in the same position, hands behind her back and still watching me with that creepy smile.

Did she poison me or something?

"Um, thanks for breakfast, it was really good" I hand her the tray as she literally skips out of the room. I shake my head and get up to the bathroom.

I'm really glad my mom leaves early for work, or she would have had a peculiar encounter with her daughter's strange new "friend".

I get ready, and once I'm done, me and Riley head to the door and open it, only to be met yet again with Alex, holding car keys in his hand.

"Morning ladies!" He beams.

"Morning!"

"Fuck off."

Riley and I say at the same time.

"Who wants a ride to school?" He sing songs as he dangles they keys in front of us.

"You can't even drive-"

"Yes, I can!" He shouts at me.

"You remember the last time you did?" I raise my brow.

Cause I do. I still have ptsd about it.

"I've gotten better since." He says in a small voice, looking at the ground like a wounded puppy.

Riley awes.

I roll my eyes.

"Come on Riley, it beats taking the bus." Riley convinces me and it seems like I have no other fucking choice.

We reach Alex's dad's car, how he managed to persuade him into letting him drive it baffles me.

I go to open the door to the passenger's seat, only for Alex to push me to the ground and open the door for Riley to step inside, sending me an apologetic look.
