Riley's POV
After nearly having a heart attack and being killed by a red, fluffy spider, I take the deep breath I was holding as I make my way out of the professor's office.
What happened in there was... intense.
And I'm talking pre-spider attack.
Now I'm left wondering what would have happened if we weren't interrupted. I mean, I was kinda grateful that we were because I honestly had no idea what to say or how to act after that conversation we had, things would have been a bit awkward.
But yet, what if they weren't? There was a moment where we were completely lost in each other's eyes, what if it had escalated?
And if it did, would I have been ready?
I shake my head at that thought. I need to stay focused and figure this shit out, cause apparently now, I have a weird superpower that allows my dreams to come true.
It might sound cool, but believe me, it's more complicated than that.
After the spider was left unmoving by the repeated hits it received on the head with a chemistry textbook ( turns out it was useful after all) , we sat there to catch our breathes, then the professor cleared his throat and told me to never mention this again, and by this, I presume he meant the part where he was screaming like a teenage girl.
Now we were awkwardly walking side by side on our way out when I notice mom, Riley and Alex walking towards us.
As if my day couldn't get any weirder.
"Mr X! So lovely to meet you!" My mother cheerfully called out.
"Mr X?" I whisper to him and immediately facepalmed myself as I realise that I never caught his name until now.
He furrows his brows and looks away from me, a slight look of hurt on his face. What was that?
"Mrs Sinclair, pleasure to meet you as well." My mom physically swoons at the dashing smile he sends her.
Please, for the love of God mom, don't embarrass me.
"I just wanted to meet the teacher who was brave enough to sit through a whole hour of explaining chemistry to Riley, she's not the brightest in that subject you know." She obnoxiously chuckles.
"Mom!"
"Oh relax, Riles, I'm just joking."
"Well you're not as funny as you think." I deadpan.
She sends a look that could only be translated as "oh, you gon get it" while I heard a choked laughter besides me.
Her sneer turns into a full grin once she redirects her attention back on him.
"Thank you for taking the time and making sure she doesn't fail. None of her former teachers even bothered to help her." She sincerely says and I had to agree, they saw me struggling yet never did anything about it.
"Don't mention it. Besides, Riley is a wonderful student, she just needs to pay attention more." He playfully winked at me as he said that last part, and I internally giggled.
Giggled.
What has he done to me?
"I'm certain she will. With a teacher like you, who wouldn't?" She purrs and I think my brain threw up a little. Even Riley sends her a tiny side glare.
You're married, have some decency, woman!
And to my complete and utter chock, he smirks.
"I can't take all the credit, your daughter is a smart girl, I'm sure she gets that from you." The fucker smoothly says and I have to keep my mouth closed as I stare at the two back and forth.
