Riley's POV

I spent the whole class staring at the girl sitting next to me.

It's her. The girl that my mind had created. The girl my dreams and written stories revolved around. A mere fragment of my imagination was now physically in front of me, in the flesh. A living, breathing being that came out of my fucked up head.

Did I manifest this?

I shake my head. No, it's not possible. I'm going crazy.

But she looks just like me! She even has the same name, for fuck's sake! This can NOT be a coincidence.

But how is this possible?!

"Ughhhh!"

"Yes miss Sinclair, pop quizzes do suck but they tend to make students prepare more for class" I clamp my mouth shut , realizing I had groaned out loud as a few students chuckle at Mr Wheeler's lame joke.

My hearts skips a beat when I turn and find her eyes on me. It was only for a second, then she faces the front of the class again, but that was all I needed to confirm it.

It's her.

..........

"Alex!" He waves with a smile once he hears me calling him, his usual happy face slightly morphing into one of pure horror as he sees me aggressively walking towards him.

Can't blame him, I must look like a lunatic.

"Ri-leyyyyy" he shrieks as I harshly grab his arm and drag him to a secluded area.

"You..." I pant as I try and catch my breath "will never believe what just happened."

"Why do you look like you just ran a marathon?" He asks.

I may or may not have chased the girl after class.

But it was the weirdest thing. No matter how fast I was walking, I couldn't catch up to her. She kept turning the corners until she disappeared from my sight.

It's like she vanished into thin air.

"The craziest thing just happened" He nods, telling me to speak but I freeze, now realising I have no fucking clue how to explain it.

Alex and I tell each other almost anything, but these dreams, these stories are for me and only me. They're intimate and I never felt comfortable sharing them with anyone, even Alex.

I would die, resurrect myself then die again if anyone knew about them.

Alex squints his eyes, waiting for whatever I had to say since I nearly dislocated his shoulder dragging him here to talk.

"So, there is a new student in our class this year, and it's.... well me "

Alex raises a brow as he silently stares at me, waiting for me to explain what's already unexplainable to me.

"Ok, so, you know how we all like imagine ourselves the stars of our own movies, right? Like the main character who everything revolves around, who is perfect and everyone's obsessed with and stuff?"

Alex still stares at me.

"It's like you're the star of your own scenarios, where you're the best version of yourself, you're everything you've always wished you would be....Well...I met my version today." I end my little ramble, hoping that somewhat made sense.

Alex opens his mouth, then closes it. He scratches the back of his neck, then crosses his arms and leans against the locker as he analyses me.

A few moments later, he finally spoke.

"Have you been watching black mirror again?" He concludes and I turn and slam my head repeatedly on the locker.

"Sheesh, Riles, I know you like to fantasise about movies and such, but this one is exceptionally detailed." He taunts as I glare at him.

"I'm not fantasising it, I'm living it!"

"Riles-"

"Look, I'll prove it to you!" I insist and just my luck, I catch a glimpse of the familiar flying black hair entering history class.

I grin madly as I grab his arm once again and head towards class, making him deliberately sit a row behind her, right opposite her so he'll get a good view of her left profile.

I take the seat where I can see her right side, and smile smugly as Alex's eyes widen and his jaw drop.

I sit through class, patiently waiting for it to be over.

........

"So?"

"Wow."

"I told yo-"

"That is the most gorgeous girl I have ever seen!"

"Thank you- wait what?"

"She's gorgeous Riles!" He exclaims, hearts literally popping out of his fucking eyes as I stare at him in bewilderment.

"She's mee!"

He scoffs.

"Yeah, ok" he says like he doesn't believe me. "But seriously Riles, she has this glow to her that..." He snaps his fingers as he tries to think of the perfect way to describe her.

"Draws you in?"

"Yeah, it's like, she's effortlessly magnetic, you know, she turns heads and makes everybody around her-"

"Obsessed."

"Exactly!" He beams and continues to confess his undying love for her, while I stare off into nothing, realisation hitting me.

I'm the only one who knows.

Nobody seemed to notice anything weird about her, that we both share the same looks and the same name. I expected someone to immediately point it out, talk about how unusual this is, but no one did. No one noticed. I'm all alone and I have no one to talk to about this. Not even Alex.

Seeing her made me feel so invaded. Like my intimate thoughts were projected into this walking embodiment of my deepest secrets and dreams, roaming around freely for everyone to see.

Suddenly, all my sweet dreams have turned into a nightmare.

"Riley?"
