[ Third Person Pov ]

“About time, or did you want me to starve to death?”

Jiyun disdained her aunt's nagging, ambling towards her bathroom to get ready for another fun-filled day. She still felt too weak, even the good night's rest Hyunjin promised didn't help much. The black haired heaved out a breath when she caught sight of her reflection on the mirror, her eyes puffy and tinted red, almost as crimson as the tip of her nose, her entire face swollen. Her head ached with a throbbing headache and breathing hard, a result of nasal congestion.

Jiyun sighed, brushing her stygian hair straight, wondering how she was going to survive today without being prodded.

She knows for a fact that Ahra wouldn't care about how she looked, if she was in a really good mood, she'd throw impudent remarks about it, bring her mother up again.

The younger couldn't help but wonder where the sudden hate resonated from. For all she could remember, Ahra and her mum had the best relationship, they'd spend a lot of time together chatting. Ahra would spend summer break with them, engaging in various activities under the sun, she'd join them to the beach, park, ice cream parlour, even attending Jiyun's ballet classes.

The change was drastic, everything went south. Jiyun wasn't told that her mum was dead, she just woke up to her aunt taking down every photo and possessions her mother was in, shoving them in a box, her mood sour.

She only found out a few months later, after asking nonstop. Ahra got upset and yelled it at her face. Jiyun got really scared and confused, she wanted to run to her dad and cry, but he wasn't back. He never returned.

From there on, things only got worse, she found out that she had the same illness that took her mum away from her, it was back again, this time to take her away from the world.

At first she didn't mind, there was no world anymore to begin with. She had completely isolated from everyone, she was now known as the quiet kid, the one kids refused to talk to. And maybe she liked it, nothing that attached her to this world.

She had already lost those she considered to be everything, her mum gone, dad mysteriously disappeared and the only one left took a 180-turn.

“. . .I'll be downstairs waiting,” Ahra stopped her rumbling about how she had been waiting for the younger to come make breakfast, her words barely getting to the noirette.

Jiyun mumbled under her breath, mentally debating if she should just let them know that she wasn't up for it anymore, her demeanor would totally ruin the mood if she hung out with them.

But if she were to do it herself, she'd be quizzed to the brink to extinction, especially by Minho, the brunet had really been in her business lately. It would be better if she told Hyunjin, he would understand, he knew everything now and wouldn't force her.

“Yunnie?” Hyunjin's voice was low and raspy, obvious that he just woke up.

Jiyun bit her lip, hesitant to speak, the embarrassment finally getting to her. She clearly didn't think things through and was now hung on the line with the guy she had spent all night bawling her eyes out in his arms, a complete mess underneath his fingertips. “Uh. . . I, um Hyu—” she wavered, contemplating on ending the call.

“Yunnie, are you okay?” a scuffle emitted from his end, and then a thud. Jiyun heard a loud 'ow' followed by low strings of cusses. “I'm sorry, I banged my head on my desk,” Hyunjin tittered.

“I should be the one saying sorry,” Jiyun crossed her arm over the other, anxiously pacing the room. “I'm sorry I called you so early, I kno—”

“It's fine, Hyung was the one who woke me up,” the taller waved her doubt away, his voice a bit clearer now. “He's really excited about hanging out, said he has a special sur—” Hyunjin caught himself, a sheepish grin which she couldn't see.

“Oh?” Jiyun mused, not really wanting to break the older's feelings. “I'll see you then?”

“I can't wait, and also let me know if you need anything, okay?” his voice got cheeky, and she could only imagine his coy smile and how his eyes crinkles into crescents. “I gotta go, love you—” the black haired groaned. “. . .Fuck, that sounds so weird, I'm sorry!”

“Its fine, Jinnie, I love you too.”
