The morning after was anything but easy. Jungkook's mind was still a whirlwind of emotions as he worked quietly in the kitchen, hands scrubbing the dishes, but the omega's thoughts were far from focused on his tasks. Last night's events played over and over in his mind-the storeroom, the heat of Taehyung's kiss, and the slap that followed.
Why did he feel like his mind betrayed him? Or it was his heart? Why had his body responded to alpha's touch, even when his mind screamed to push him away?
Jungkook stole a glance out the window toward the garden where Taehyung had often spent his mornings with Namjoon, but today the spot was empty. A part of him felt relieved not to see him. The other part... well, he wasn't sure what to do with that feeling yet.
The words of grandmother also echoed in his mind. "Don't ever break my trust, Jungkook," she had said last night as he left the storeroom. What trust? Was it trust in his work? Or something more? Was it that obvious?
As he wiped his hands on a towel, he heard footsteps approaching. His heart skipped when he recognized the familiar sound. Taehyung.
The omega stiffened, keeping his back to him.
"Jungkook," Taehyung's voice was low, hesitant. He stood in the doorway, looking at the omega with eyes that held a mix of regret and confusion. "About last night..."
Jungkook froze, unsure how to respond. His pulse quickened, but he forced himself to stay calm. He wasn't ready for this conversation. Not yet.
"I shouldn't have..." The alpha started again, stepping closer. His hand hovered in the air like he wanted to reach out, but thought better of it.
Don't you dare come close to me ever again.
"I don't know what came over me."
Jungkook turned around slowly, meeting Taehyung's gaze, his expression unreadable, voice soft "You regret it?"
Taehyung blinked, not expecting the question. His shoulders tensed. "No. I mean... yes. I don't regret how I feel about you, but I regret hurting you. I don't want you to be scared of me, that was so wrong. Without permission and nobody probably ever touched in you that way and I ruined it all- I'm just so sorry"
The omega swallowed hard, feeling his chest tighten. "I'm not scared of you." It was the truth-at least partly. He wasn't scared of Taehyung, but he was terrified of what was happening between them, of what it could mean. "And I won't say it's okay, but it shouldn't happen again. Let's pretend that it never happened"
Taehyung looked relieved for a brief moment, but the tension between them still lingered, thick and awkward. He wanted to say more, but the sound of approaching footsteps interrupted them.
"Tae?" It was Namjoon. He entered the kitchen with a curious look. "Everything okay?"
The alpha straightened immediately, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Yeah, everything's fine. Just... talking."
Namjoon glanced between the two, sensing the uncomfortable air but choosing not to press. "Well, Father's been looking for you. There's something important he wants to discuss."
The omega felt a strange sense of relief when Namjoon's words pulled Taehyung's attention away from him. As Taehyung nodded and left with his brother, Jungkook turned back to the kitchen, trying to push down the confusion still swirling inside him.
