It had been two long, hollow years since Taehyung had lost him. Two years since the love of his life, Jungkook, had been ripped away by deceit and cruelty. Every day since then had felt like an eternity-an endless cycle of pain that began the moment he opened his eyes and didn't find the omega next to him.

Taehyung sat by the small window of his modest flat, staring at the rain trickling down the glass. The world outside was grey, dull, lifeless-just like the world inside him. He'd moved far away from the mansion, from the wealth, the power, the expectations. He wanted nothing to do with the life that had taken everything from him.

His fingers traced the spine of the worn notebook on the table beside him. The pages were filled with letters. Letters he'd written to Jungkook, though the omega would never read them. Letters that held the only connection to his heart's lost half. He hadn't known where else to put his grief, his guilt, his love. So, he wrote. Each page an attempt to reach a ghost he could never hold again.

"Cara mia..." he whispered the endearment softly, the name that had always been just for Jungkook. It was all he had left now-memories, faded but still sharp enough to cut him every time they surfaced. His chest tightened, the familiar ache of loss settling in once more.

Taehyung closed his eyes, letting himself sink into the past, where Jungkook's laughter still echoed, where his smile was bright and his eyes held nothing but warmth. A time when they had everything, even if the world didn't know it.

"Taehyung, no!" Jungkook's giggle rang through the small room as the alpha playfully tugged him closer, pulling him into his lap. "We'll get caught."

"And if we do?" Taehyung grinned, his nose brushing against Jungkook's cheek. "What can they do? I'll protect you, baby. I'll always protect you."

Jungkook's smile faltered for just a moment, a flicker of uncertainty in his gaze. "What if... you can't? What if one day you're not here?"

Taehyung had kissed the worry away, promising softly against his lips, "I'll always be here. I'll never leave you. Nothing will ever take you away from me."

Those words haunted him now. His promise had been empty.

The alpha had left.

And because he left, Jungkook had died.

He received the omega's last letter-a frantic, shaky message that had made no sense. Jungkook had written of betrayal, of shame, of something Taehyung could never believe. The words had been drenched in self-loathing, as if Jungkook had been convinced he was no longer worthy of Taehyung's love.

But the alpha had never wavered. Not once. His heart had always belonged to Jungkook, fully and irrevocably.

When he arrived at the mansion, breathless and desperate, it was already too late.

Jungkook was gone.

The baby...

Taehyung didn't knew. Jungkook had been pregnant-his child, their child-and he had died believing it was someone else's. What could be more gut wrenching than this fact alone?

He had died thinking he was a disgrace. That he had betrayed the man he loved most.

And it was all because of them.

Somi and Jaehyun.

They had destroyed him. Piece by piece, they had torn down the person he loved, until he had nothing left.

And Taehyung had been too far away to stop it.

Taehyung's hands trembled as he held the notebook tighter, the alpha's knuckles white. He had killed Jaehyun, tear apart his flesh with his own bare hands That much he had done, in a blind rage, the moment the truth came to light. But Somi... his mother had walked away untouched. And that knowledge was a poison in his veins, corroding his soul with every passing day.
