It had been just over a year since YN had stepped into Beyoncé's world, and somehow, she felt like she belonged. The chaos of the spotlight had simmered down into something manageable, the kind of noise she could handle as long as Beyoncé was by her side. But as much as YN had grown accustomed to this life, something else had been gnawing at her lately—something deeper.
She couldn't shake the thought. Could Beyoncé be the one? The woman she'd want to spend the rest of her life with?
The idea of proposing to Beyoncé had lingered in YN's mind for weeks now. It felt right—natural even. But the weight of it made her hesitant. Beyoncé had been through so much with her previous marriage, and YN didn't want to push her into anything she wasn't ready for. So, she decided to seek advice from those closest to Beyoncé.
Kelly had been the first person YN thought to call. She was Beyoncé's best friend, practically family, and YN knew she'd get the most honest opinion from her. One evening, when Beyoncé was busy with rehearsals, YN texted Kelly to set up a call.
"Hey, girl! What's up?" Kelly greeted cheerfully when she answered, her voice full of warmth.
YN hesitated for a second before diving in. "I need your help with something... sensitive."
Kelly's tone softened immediately. "Of course, what's going on?"
YN took a deep breath, steadying her nerves. "I've been thinking about proposing to Bey... but I don't know if she's ready to take that step again. What do you think?"
There was a brief silence on the other end before Kelly spoke, her voice thoughtful. "Honestly, Bey's been the happiest I've seen her in a long time since you came into her life. But, proposing... that's a big deal. I think she'd be open to it, but you know her—she doesn't rush into anything. You might need to feel her out first."
YN let out a sigh of relief. "That's exactly what I was thinking. Do you think you and the girls could help me out? Maybe plan a girls' night and somehow bring up the topic to see what she says?"
Kelly chuckled. "I like the way you think! Consider it done. I'll round up Michelle, Solange, and Angie. We'll sneak it into the conversation and see how she reacts."
"Thanks, Kel. I owe you one."
"Girl, you don't owe me a thing. We're family now," Kelly replied with a smile in her voice. "We'll take care of it. You just focus on spending time with her."
The call left YN feeling a little more at ease. She trusted Kelly and the others to gently test the waters, but there was another hurdle she knew she'd need to clear soon—Beyoncé's kids.
Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir had become a bigger part of her life over the past year, but YN knew that they needed more time with her—especially Blue, who was twelve and as sharp as a tack. YN had already arranged to take them to an amusement park the next day, and she figured it would be a great opportunity to bond with them on a deeper level.
The next morning, YN pulled up to Beyoncé's house, and the kids came rushing out, excited for their day of fun. Beyoncé kissed YN goodbye with a sweet smile, whispering in her ear, "Good luck. They've been looking forward to this all week."
YN grinned nervously as she buckled the kids into the car, her mind already spinning with the questions Blue was sure to ask.
At the amusement park, they rode roller coasters, played games, and laughed until their stomachs hurt. It was a carefree day, and YN could see how much joy the kids brought to Beyoncé's life. But it wasn't long before Blue, who had been observing YN all day, decided it was time for a more serious conversation.
As they sat down for a quick snack break, Blue leaned forward, her intelligent eyes locked on YN. "So... you're really in love with my mom, huh?"
YN smiled, taken aback by Blue's directness. "Yeah, I really am."
Blue nodded, seemingly satisfied with that answer, but she had more to ask. "What's your plan? Like... are you going to be with her forever?"
YN glanced at Rumi and Sir, who were more focused on their ice cream than the conversation. She turned back to Blue, choosing her words carefully. "I hope so. I want to be with your mom for the rest of my life. But more importantly, I want to make sure she's happy. That's all I care about."
Blue studied YN for a moment, her expression thoughtful. "Mom's really happy with you. I've never seen her smile like that before... not even with my dad."
YN's heart swelled at Blue's words. "That means a lot to me, Blue. I love your mom more than anything."
Blue seemed to process that for a moment before asking the big question. "Are you going to marry her?"
YN hesitated, unsure of how to answer. "I've thought about it. But it's important to me that your mom is ready for that. I don't want to rush her into anything."
Blue smiled softly. "I think she'd say yes."
YN's breath caught in her throat, but before she could respond, Sir tugged on her sleeve. "Can we go on the roller coaster again?"
Laughing, YN stood up and scooped Sir into her arms, grateful for the distraction. "Of course! Let's go."
As they made their way back to the rides, YN couldn't help but think about Blue's words. Maybe, just maybe, Beyoncé was ready for the next step.
And YN was more determined than ever to make sure that, when the time came, the proposal would be perfect.
