A few days had passed since the girls' night, and while Beyoncé had no clue that her friends had been subtly testing her thoughts on marriage, YN felt more confident than ever. Beyoncé's openness during the conversation with Kelly and the others had given YN the reassurance she needed. Beyoncé wasn't rushing, but she wasn't closed off either. She was open, and that was all YN needed to hear.
But while things were going smoothly between her and Bey, YN couldn't shake the nerves creeping in. The idea of proposing still felt massive. She wasn't just asking any woman to marry her—this was Beyoncé. YN had been adjusting well to the world that came with dating a superstar, but there were still moments when it all felt overwhelming. Was she really ready to take on that level of commitment, not just to Beyoncé but to the kids, to the career, to the whirlwind of life in the public eye?
That's why, on a rare quiet afternoon, YN found herself sitting at a café in downtown LA, deep in thought. She had called Kelly earlier, asking if they could talk in person. Kelly had immediately agreed, sensing that YN was still working through some things.
"I'm surprised you wanted to meet up without Bey," Kelly teased as she slid into the seat across from YN. "Trouble in paradise?"
YN chuckled but shook her head. "Nah, no trouble. It's just... I've been thinking about the proposal."
Kelly raised an eyebrow, sipping her coffee. "You're really going through with it?"
"I want to," YN admitted, fidgeting with her hands. "I really do. But sometimes it feels like I'm taking on so much, you know? Bey's world is... intense. I love her, and I love the kids, but it's not always easy to see myself fully fitting into that world."
Kelly smiled sympathetically. "I get it. Being with someone like Bey can be a lot. But YN, you've already been through the hardest part—winning her heart. Everything else is just figuring out how you two fit into each other's lives."
"I know, I know," YN nodded. "But I guess I just want to make sure I'm not putting too much pressure on her. I mean, her life is so public. A proposal... it's huge."
Kelly reached out and put a hand on YN's. "You're right to think about all of this, but let me tell you something—Bey has been happier with you than she's been in years. She's ready for whatever comes next, even if she doesn't realize it yet. She trusts you, YN. If you're ready, she'll be ready."
YN smiled, feeling a little lighter. "Thanks, Kel. I needed to hear that."
They spent the next hour chatting about everything from work to life with Beyoncé. Kelly's calm, grounded presence helped YN put things in perspective. As they finished their coffee, YN felt a sense of clarity settle over her. Maybe she was ready to propose after all.
Later that evening, YN returned to the house she now shared with Beyoncé, her mind buzzing with thoughts about the future. Beyoncé was in her home studio, working on some new material for her upcoming tour, and YN quietly crept into the room, leaning against the doorframe as she watched her.
Beyoncé was in her element, headphones on, swaying to the rhythm of the beat she was working on. YN smiled to herself, marveling at how effortlessly Beyoncé commanded her space. It was moments like these that reminded YN why she had fallen in love with her in the first place.
Beyoncé turned around, spotting YN. She smiled, pulling off her headphones. "Hey, baby. I didn't hear you come in."
YN walked over and kissed her softly on the cheek. "I didn't want to interrupt your flow."
"You never interrupt," Beyoncé teased, wrapping her arms around YN's waist and pulling her closer. "How was your day?"
YN hesitated for a moment, then decided to speak what was on her mind. "I've been thinking about us. About our future."
Beyoncé's expression softened, her eyes searching YN's face. "What's on your mind?"
"I know we haven't talked much about what comes next, but I want you to know that I'm in this for the long haul. Whatever that looks like, whatever it takes, I'm here," YN said, her voice steady but full of emotion.
Beyoncé smiled, her hands resting on YN's shoulders. "I know that. And I feel the same way. We don't have to rush anything, baby. We'll figure it out together."
Relief washed over YN as she pulled Beyoncé into a tight hug. "I love you, Bey. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I'm not letting you go."
Beyoncé kissed the side of her head, holding her close. "You deserve everything, YN. And I'm not going anywhere."
