The morning of their departure arrived with a heaviness that neither Beyoncé nor YN could shake. The sky, once a bright and brilliant blue, was now overcast, as if the island itself was mourning the end of their time together. The air was thick with the unspoken weight of what was to come, and the usual sounds of the resort—the laughter of vacationers, the chirping of birds—felt distant and muted.
Beyoncé woke up early, her mind already racing with thoughts of the day ahead. She had hoped for a little more time—one more morning, one more shared laugh—but the reality of their departure loomed too large. Beside her, YN was still asleep, her arm draped protectively over Beyoncé's waist, her face relaxed in peaceful slumber. Beyoncé carefully moved YN's arm and slipped out of bed, needing a moment alone to gather her thoughts.
She walked to the window, looking out at the beach they had spent so much time on, the place where their relationship had blossomed. It was hard to believe that in just a few hours, they would be leaving it all behind—this beautiful place, and the cocoon of time and space that had allowed them to grow closer.
Beyoncé heard the soft rustle of sheets behind her and turned to see YN waking up, her eyes still heavy with sleep but quickly filling with the same realization. YN met Beyoncé's gaze, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. There was nothing left to say that hadn't already been said.
Finally, YN broke the silence, her voice thick with emotion. "So... this is it, huh?"
Beyoncé nodded, trying to keep her own emotions in check. "Yeah," she replied softly. "This is it."
They got ready in near silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The weight of the goodbye they were about to face made everything feel heavier—every movement, every word. Beyoncé could feel her heart constricting with each minute that passed, knowing that time was slipping away from them.
Once they were packed and ready to go, they met the rest of the group in the lobby. Kelly, Michelle, Solange, and Angie were already there, their expressions a mix of understanding and concern. They had all sensed the bond between Beyoncé and YN, and they knew how hard this parting would be.
Kelly stepped forward, wrapping Beyoncé in a tight hug. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice gentle but full of care.
Beyoncé nodded, though her throat felt tight. "I'll be okay," she said, though she wasn't sure if she was trying to convince Kelly or herself.
The group exchanged hugs and goodbyes with YN as well, each of them offering words of encouragement and promises to stay in touch. It was clear that they had come to care for YN too, seeing how happy she had made Beyoncé over the past few days.
Finally, it was just Beyoncé and YN standing at the entrance of the resort, their bags packed and waiting beside them. The car to take them to the airport was already there, the driver respectfully giving them space for this final moment.
YN looked at Beyoncé, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "I don't want to say goodbye," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly.
Beyoncé felt her heart break a little at those words. She reached out, taking YN's hands in hers, holding on as if she could stop time by sheer will. "Then don't," she whispered. "We'll see each other again. This isn't the end, YN."
"But it feels like it," YN said, her voice barely above a whisper. "This place... it's been like a dream. And I'm scared that when we leave, reality will make it all disappear."
Beyoncé shook her head, stepping closer to YN. "It won't disappear. What we have is real. It's not just about this place. It's about us. And I don't want to let that go."
YN swallowed hard, nodding as she tried to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over. "I don't want to let go either."
Beyoncé took a deep breath, gathering every bit of strength she had left. "Then we won't. We'll stay in touch, we'll find a way to make this work, no matter how hard it is."
YN finally let a tear fall, and Beyoncé reached up to gently wipe it away. "You're strong, YN. We both are. And if we want this badly enough, we'll find a way."
For a long moment, they just held each other, the world around them fading away as they shared one last embrace. Neither of them wanted to let go, but they knew they had to. Eventually, YN pulled back, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and determination.
"I'll miss you," YN said, her voice thick with emotion.
"I'll miss you too," Beyoncé replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "But this isn't goodbye, okay? It's just... see you later."
YN nodded, a small, sad smile forming on her lips. "See you later."
They shared one final kiss, a tender, lingering kiss that was both a goodbye and a promise. When they finally pulled away, they held each other's gaze for a moment longer, each trying to memorize the other's face, the way they looked in this exact moment.
Then, with a deep breath, Beyoncé picked up her bag and turned to join her friends in the car. YN watched her go, her heart heavy but filled with resolve. She knew this wasn't the end, not if they didn't let it be.
As the car pulled away, Beyoncé looked back at YN, standing alone at the entrance of the resort. She raised her hand in a final wave, and YN did the same, their eyes locked until the distance between them grew too great.
The ride to the airport was quiet, the reality of the goodbye settling over the group like a thick fog. Beyoncé stared out the window, watching as the island slowly disappeared from view, her mind filled with memories of the past few days. She could still feel YN's touch, hear her laugh, see the way her eyes sparkled in the sunlight.
It hurt to leave, more than she had expected. But as much as it hurt, there was also a sense of hope. They had something special, something worth fighting for, and Beyoncé was determined to do just that.
As they boarded the plane, Beyoncé took one last look at the island, silently promising herself that this wouldn't be the last time she saw it—or YN. She knew the road ahead would be challenging, but she was ready to face it.
After all, love was worth fighting for. And as long as she and YN held on to that, they would find their way back to each other, no matter how far apart they were.
