LOCATION: Matthew's apartment
_____________________________________________Matthew is a pretty average 18 year old. He likes rock and roll, ramen, action movies, listening to music almost 24/7, and he's got a stump where his right arm should be.
...
Wait...
Okay, let me just break it down for you real quick.
*Default dance intensifies*
Anyways, there really isn't much of a story behind Matt's lack of an arm. He was born without one, and that's all there really is to it. Sure, it's rare, but it still happens from time to time.
Aight, now back to the actual plot.
So he's in his apartment, and at the moment, he's looking for a job. Thing is, there isn't a lot he can do with his disability, so he's spent quite a long time looking through various websites not so much to find a job, but more to find any (legal) means of making money fast.
While it did take quite the extensive search, he eventually found an advertisement from a little-known company that went by the name of "Laminax." They were experimenting with building additional functions into bionic prosthetic limbs, and needed test subjects.
While that didn't immediately catch his attention, the rather generous payout to anyone who volunteered definitely piqued his interest.
Now, he might as well have been killing two birds with one stone. He'd get a right arm, along with more than enough money to keep him afloat until he could get an actual job.
So, he filled out an application online, printed out a hard copy just to be safe, and waited for a reply.
About 2 weeks later, he received an email informing him that his application was accepted, and a driver would be picking him up the following day.

LOCATION: Outside the apartment building
_____________________________________________The driver came around 11 in the morning. Matthew was waiting outside the door of his apartment building, clicking through songs on his MP3 player. The thing was pretty outdated by today's standards, but at least it had a decently advanced form of Bluetooth, which saved him from having a cable get snagged on everything.
Anyways, he didn't really notice the car approaching, until the driver pulled up right in front of him, giving the horn a toot. Matt hung his headphones around his neck, as he showed the driver his I.D. and hard copy of his application, and slid into the passenger seat when the driver unlocked the door.
_____________________________________________LOCATION: In the car
TIME: 12:00 PM
_____________________________________________The ride so far had been pretty uneventful. Matt just stared out the window while listening to music, while the driver said absolutely nothing and never took his eyes off the road.
In all honesty, Matthew was pretty nervous about this surgery. After all, it's not every day you sign up to have someone slap a new arm on your shoulder after having spent your entire life with nothing there to begin with. But, at the same time, he had to be realistic. This was the only way he knew of that would let him exist in this world, let alone succeed in life. This had to be done.
_____________________________________________LOCATION: Laminax Laboratories (parking lot)
TIME: 12:38 PM
_____________________________________________When they finally arrived at Laminax, Matt saw for himself that this place definitely looked like the real deal; big building, big driveway, big parking lot, big windows, etc.
Anyways, the driver pulled up to the front door of the main building, unlocked the doors, and Matt stepped out. The driver said nothing, and drove off once Matt closed the door.
_____________________________________________LOCATION: Laminax reception desk (aboveground)
_____________________________________________Matt walked up to the receptionist, who, after a brief conversation, told him to wait while she called up a man named "Doctor Wesley Adams".
Matthew walked over to a couch, put on his headphones, and dozed off.
_____________________________________________LOCATION: Unchanged
TIME: 12:53 PM
_____________________________________________Matthew awoke to a stout kick in the shin, and looked up to see some dude in his mid 30's looking down at him with barely hidden distaste.
"Augh...! Overkill, much?!" Matt said as he rubbed his shin. The guy's expression darkened a bit, as he replied, "seeing people asleep on the job makes me irrationally angry. You're no exception, boy."
Matthew opened his mouth to snap back at the guy, but his eyes caught on the words "Dr. Adams" on his name tag, and decided it would be best if he backed out of this fight for now.
"... Whatever, man. So you're Doc Adams, I take it?" He said, while making a small gesture towards the guy's name tag. The man nodded, seeming to loosen up a bit, as he replied, "that's right. And you're the test subject, I take it?" He gestured towards Matt's obvious lack of an arm, which earned an unamused stare from him.
"Thought you'd never guess," he said sarcastically, before standing up. "So, when do we get this thing started, doc?"
"Whenever you're ready, just follow me," Adams replied, as he took a few steps back and motioned for Matthew to follow, which he quickly did.
