🔥SURPRISE CHAPTER🔥
Scene XXIV
Young China POV (ninth grade;after three months of dating Ukraine;5 months into the school year.)
UN high school is breathtaking, but not as much as the middle schools. Yes, there is a shiny golden gate with a beautiful front garden maintained daily by the gardeners. Yes, there is a beautiful pure white water fountain at the front of the government-like school building. Yes, there are different historical paintings from each empire—including my mom's, America's parents, and Russia's parents—in the front entrance of the high school. But it's lacking in the royalty that the UN middle schools have for interior design.
It looks more like an office building once you make it in through the front entrance. It doesn't look warm and comfortable. There are no views of lakes in the distance. We aren't living in dorms anymore. The classrooms are dull, boring. I hate to say this, but I agree with North Korea. The only thing fascinating about this place are the security cameras.
Not only do the security camera here record everything that happens here, there is also live audio to go along with it meaning we will be able to uncover any secrets and revisit past lessons. So I took it as an advantage to my greater plan for the first year, which is to get along with all the teachers—especially the principal—and make a name for myself and Russia in the crowd of students. Simply said, I wanted to stand out.
I started by always showing up in class on time and being the good student the teachers wanted. But I didn't want to be stuck as the nerd of the class. I engaged in conversation and cracked jokes that made my classmates and teacher laugh. For each class, it was working. My teachers and classmates love my presence. After class, I would talk to my teachers for some time pretending to have questions about the topic of the day. Then, the conversation will go to the subjects of whatever they liked to talk about. I was able to understand my teachers on a deeper level which helped greatly.
The challenge I was facing the most was to get in contact with the principal Mr. Gondwana. Whenever I had the opportunity to do a task like bringing documents to him, I took it. Little by little, I made my presence known by having small talk with him. Then when he began to warm up to me, I left him for a few days. In that way, he would be wondering if I'll ever come back. Once I did appear again, he would feel a little relieved and start talking to me more often.
It worked. Whenever I saw Mr. Gondwana, I would always greet him and we started talking like old friends right away. Well, maybe not like friends, but rather father and son. Of course, the teachers all saw this which sparked their curiosity.
Through the security cameras, Russia, North Korea, and I were able to listen to their meetings. We understood their agenda, their secrets, and all the gossip they have around school. Because of the principal and my sudden friendship, the teachers had many questions about me, which my teachers were ready to answer.
They talked about me in a positive light. They also mentioned Russia because he went almost everywhere with me. With doing so, they were able to trust me more than the other students at this school. Maybe not as much as the seniors or juniors, but it's a good start.
At first Russia was worried. He didn't want them to put so much expectation on us in case we failed to reach them. I assured him that that won't ever happen. We were good students. We had discipline. The only thing the teachers would do if we started acting differently is be concerned and offer us help. In this way, it was beneficial to us. No one will be able to stop us.
After two months of securing dominance in this school, I turned to my next plan: date Russia's sister Ukraine. She was still in East UN middle school with my annoying brother Taiwan so I needed a way to ask her to date me. After texting her daily and meeting with her over the summer at Russia's house, I have a good feeling she liked me. On the fateful day, I took her to the lake at the middle school and asked her to be my girlfriend. She said yes and we planned to meet each other at her or my house every saturday.
