~ Natasha ~
After what felt like an eternity, I was finally ready to hit the red carpet.
"Wow, wow, wow... Is that you, Nat?" Louisa's voice squealed with excitement, her enthusiasm unmistakable.
"Indeed, Josephine, you've done an incredible job," Louisa continued, her eyes bright as she admired the final look. "You've really did her make up complemented her dress just as we hoped." My curiosity was piqued, and I was eager to see the result.
"She's a natural beauty," Josephine replied modestly, "There wasn't much for me to do."
"Hello, I'm right here!" I said, trying to get their attention. "Can I at least see how I look?"
Louisa laughed at me but moved to help me stand. "Come on, there's a full-length mirror in the living room." As I walked into the living room, the buzz of compliments from everyone in the room only heightened my anticipation. Each remark about my look, from the delicate layers of my dress to the flawless makeup, fueled my curiosity.
As I finally glimpsed my reflection in the full-length mirror, I was stunned by the vision before me. The dress I wore was a long, flowing masterpiece of white with delicate shades of sky blue, its layers of lightweight silk chiffon adding an ethereal quality to the floor-length gown. It moved with a graceful fluidity that made me feel like I was floating on air.
Josephine's makeup artistry had transformed my look entirely. The classic makeup featured a pop of pink on my lips, a striking departure from my usual look. My eyes were framed by super-precise cat flicks that gave my lashes a dramatic edge, while the overall effect made my complexion look flawlessly porcelain. My hair, straightened to perfection, fell elegantly around my shoulders, completing the refined and sophisticated appearance.
Seeing myself like this was almost surreal, and I couldn't help but marvel at how beautifully everything came together.
A new wave of buzz rippled through the room. I didn't even need to turn around to know the cause—Catherine had just entered the living room. By now, I could almost instinctively sense her presence the moment she walked into a space.
From where I stood, I could see Officer Castille's gaze fixed on Catherine, utterly smitten. The way she looked at Catherine, as if she wanted to undress her with her eyes, filled me with a surge of irritation. Didn't she know that Catherine was married?
But the moment Catherine moved close behind me, all those thoughts melted away. I caught sight of her in the mirror, and for a second, I forgot to breathe. She was absolutely stunning—so breathtakingly beautiful that I couldn't tear my eyes away. Catherine looked elegant in her silver glittering dress, her hair falling in loose waves around her shoulders, and her makeup flawlessly accentuating her features.
As I stood there, lost in the sight of Catherine, I heard Tommy's voice break through the haze of my thoughts. "Oh. My. God. You two are really a couple made in heaven. I feel like a proud parent sending their daughters to prom."
Louisa quickly chimed in, her tone just as affectionate. "Indeed, they're a beautiful couple..." and everyone in the room seemed to agree with Louisa.
Catherine leaned in close, looking directly into my eyes from the reflection, ignoring the chaos around us, her breath warm against my ear. The gentle warmth sent an electric shiver through my entire body. "Hey..." she whispered, her voice soft, as if meant just for me. "You look ethereal."
I turned slightly to meet her gaze, and the intensity in her eyes made my heart swell. It was as if, in that moment, I was the only person in the world to her. The irritation I'd felt earlier vanished, replaced by a deep warmth and care that settled in my chest.
