~ 3rd Party POV ~
As their car glided through the bustling streets toward the Palais des Festivals, Catherine's gaze drifted down to their intertwined fingers resting on Natasha's lap. She expected Natasha to pull away, or worst push away her hand to break the connection between them as usual, but Natasha's hand remained, their fingers still interlaced. The simple gesture carried a surprising intimacy, made even more tender by the way Natasha's thumb absentmindedly caressed Catherine's, while gazing out at the passing scenery.
With each gentle stroke, Catherine felt the unsettling feeling that had gripped her for days begin to unravel. She was still surprised by how Natasha had managed to make her sleep soundly last night, free from the nightmares that accompanied her sleepless night for days. Unconsciously, Catherine sought the comfort that only Natasha could offer, her heart gravitating toward the calm that Natasha effortlessly radiated.
"Okay, we're here. Whenever you're ready, I'll open the door," Officer Castille announced, her voice cutting through the serene silence that had enveloped them.
Natasha turned to look at Catherine, finding Catherine's eyes already on her, watching with a soft intensity that made the moment feel sacred. The world outside buzzed with anticipation, cameras flashing and people waiting, but in the intimate space of the car, time seemed to slow, narrowing to just the two of them.
"Ready?" Catherine asked, her voice gentle, almost a whisper. Natasha nodded, a soft smile curving her lips, sending a fresh wave of affection through Catherine. Natasha couldn't quite pinpoint what it was, but at this moment, she felt more connected to Catherine than ever before. It was as if she had a secret key to unlock the parts of Catherine that had remained hidden from the world, and she love it.
"Okay, Officer. We're ready to go," Catherine said, her voice steadier now, carrying a quiet confidence.
As if the entire event revolved around them, the moment they stepped out in front of the Palais des Festivals, every camera lens swiveled in their direction. Flashbulbs erupted in a dazzling cascade, capturing the magnetic presence of the couple.
Louisa couldn't help but notice the way Catherine's eyes remained fixed on Natasha, while the crew was busy assisting Natasha with her dress. There was something unmistakable in Catherine's gaze—admiration, and, Louisa dared to admit, a deep care. It was the first time she had seen her best friend look at another person with such profound emotion, and to be honest, it made her a little scared. What if Catherine got hurt?
But then she caught the way Natasha glanced back at Catherine, and if she didn't know before, now, Louisa confirmed that both of them were slowly falling for each other, even if they hadn't realized it yet. Louisa silently promised herself that she would find a way to make them both aware of each other's feelings. She knew she needed to be discreet—Catherine might be smart, but when it came to matters of the heart and feeling, she could be surprisingly clueless. The last thing Louisa wanted was for Catherine to push Natasha away out of fear, as she often did when faced with her own emotions and traumatic past.
The crew gave the green light, signaling that they were ready to hit the red carpet. Catherine offered her hand to Natasha, who took it gladly, their fingers naturally intertwining. Together, they walked with elegance and grace, a perfect pair under the dazzling lights. "They're really perfect for each other," Tommy remarked earning nods of agreement from the entire crew.
"Indeed, they are," Louisa added, pulling out her phone to capture the moment. She felt a swell of emotion, tears threatening to well up as she watched them.
As Catherine and Natasha walked hand in hand down the red carpet, the crowd erupted into a frenzy, the media and fans shouting their names repeatedly, trying to get their attention.
