~ 3rd party POV ~

"What do you think of Nat and Cate?" Noel asked suddenly, breaking the serene silence that had settled over the afternoon tea time with her husband. Emmette, immersed in his work, barely glanced up from his tablet. He is trying to finish his work as much as possible before the weekend.

"They're fine," Emmette muttered absentmindedly, "as long as they don't breathe in the same room."

Noel reached over and gently patted his arm, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Oh, come on, Emmette. I'm being serious here."

With a slight sigh, Emmette shifted his gaze from the screen to his wife. "I am serious here, my love. What do you want me to say? Something like, 'Oh dear Noel, Nat and Cate look so good together, I think they should get married?'"

He meant it as a tease, but the silence that followed made him look up again. Noel's hopeful eyes met his, making his teasing smile fade. He slowly set his tablet aside, giving her his full attention. "What are you suggesting here, hun?" he asked, his interest piqued by the seriousness in her expression.

Noel took a deep breath, her thoughts about Natasha and Catherine has been swirling in her mind for quit sometimes now. "What do you think of that? Of what you just said, Emmette?"

Emmette raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised. "What? Our daughter and Catherine Ortiz... getting married?"

Noel nodded, her expression earnest. "Yes. What do you think, if Nat and Cate were to marry each other?"

Emmette leaned back in his chair, processing the idea. He felt a mixture of surprise and curiosity. This was a topic he hadn't seriously considered before, but he couldn't shut it down now. If it happened, he would be one of the happiest father on earth. He love Natasha to no end, and felt the same deep affection for Catherine. Since James and Camalia had died, he felt it was his responsibility to ensure Catherine was okay, in every aspect of her life.

"They are totally two different person. You've seen how they can't look into each other in the eye, how could they possibly survive living together? Do you really think it will work between them?" Emmette said, not entirely convinced.

Noel nodded, her conviction unwavering. "I see and feel something special between them, Emmette. I don't know how to put it into words—call it a mother's instinct. And now, that instinct is stronger than ever."

Emmette sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know what to say, hun. Of course, I would be happy as a father. More than happy, actually—it would feel like winning the lottery. You know how much I love Catherine. I've always treated her like my own daughter. And by having her as our daughter in-law, it's like every father's dream. I know, Natasha will be in a very good hands, and I can die with peace."

He paused, gathering his thoughts. "But I'm not sure our daughter swings that way. I've never seen her with another woman before. And as for Cate, I don't even know if she's ever been in a relationship or able to be in one. You know how she has built wall that no one can cross. So, I don't know if this is a good idea. Plus, they can hardly be civil with each other most of the time. I don't want to push them into something that makes them resent us."

"And direct to marriage? Isn't that a bit bold move?" Emmette quickly add.

Noel reached across the table, taking his hand in hers. "I know you have your doubts, Emmette. I had similar thoughts before, but this instinct is too strong for me to ignore. Besides, Cate will be thirty soon and our Natasha isn't that young; she'll be twenty-three. I don't want what happened to our daughter to happen again. I have same feeling with you, I believe Catherine can take care of Natasha as good as we do, or not event better. And what's wrong with making a bold move? You always told me, 'Go big or go home.'"
