Hermes seethed with frustration, his plans foiled by Athena's unexpected defiance. He paced in his chambers, the Eye of Hades gleaming on his desk, a reminder of his true intentions. He needed Medusa's head, and Perseus was the key. But Athena's possession of the mirror shield complicated things. He was certain she had it, but she refused to acknowledge it.
Hermes' goal was twofold: use Perseus to behead Medusa and claim her head for his own purposes. But what Athena didn't know was that Hermes had a larger scheme in play, one that required Medusa's head and Perseus' unique abilities.
As he pondered his next move, Hermes considered letting Athena find Perseus first. Maybe it was better to wait, observe, and strike when the time was right. But he needed leverage against Athena, something to ensure she wouldn't interfere with his plans.
Hermes paced back and forth in his chambers, his mind racing with thoughts of how to gain the upper hand against Athena. He had to find something, anything, to use as leverage against her. But what?
As he walked, his eyes wandered over the intricate carvings on the walls, the glittering tapestries, and the polished marble floor. But his gaze was inward, focused on the puzzle of Athena's secrets.
And then, like a spark of lightning on a stormy night, it hit him. The memory of that night in Athena's Temple, when he had hidden himself in the shadows and watched as Athena and Calypso made their pact.
Hermes stopped pacing, his eyes narrowing as he recalled the details of that night. The way Athena and Calypso had held hands, their voices barely above a whisper. The promise they had made to each other, the secrets they had shared.
A slow smile spread across Hermes' face as he realized the potential of what he had witnessed. Calypso, the key to unlocking Athena's secrets. Calypso, the leverage he needed to gain the upper hand.
Hermes knew that Calypso wouldn't return to her home in the River Okeanos, not with Hades searching for her. She'd choose a hideout that suited her taste, somewhere beautiful and secluded. He thought back to his knowledge of Calypso's preferences, her love of lush gardens, crystal clear waters, and warm sunshine.
With a plan forming in his mind, Hermes set out to find Calypso. He searched the mortal realm, scouring the islands and coastal towns, seeking any sign of the nymph. Finally, after days of searching, he received a tip about a hidden grotto, tucked away on a remote island, where a mysterious woman matching Calypso's description had been spotted.
Hermes arrived at the grotto, his powers of persuasion at the ready. He found Calypso lounging on a beach, surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers. She looked up, startled, as Hermes approached.
"Calypso, dear nymph," Hermes said, his voice charming and smooth. "I've been searching for you everywhere. You're coming with me."
Calypso's eyes narrowed, but Hermes was too quick. He snatched her, using his powers to subdue her, and whisked her away to his dungeons.
Hermes arrived at his palace, Calypso struggling in his grasp. He took her down the winding stairs, deep into the depths of the palace, where the sound of waves crashing grew louder. They reached a dungeon, specially designed for Calypso, with bars that allowed the sea to flow in, a cruel irony for the sea nymph.
With a flourish, Hermes locked Calypso inside, her eyes blazing with fury and fear. He charmed the bars, weaving a spell of binding and pain. If Calypso tried to use her powers to escape, the charms would cause her agony, rendering her abilities useless.
"You'll stay here, Calypso, until I'm ready to use you," Hermes said, his voice cold and calculating. "Athena will soon learn the true meaning of leverage."
With that, Hermes left Calypso to her prison, the sound of waves mocking her as she realized the extent of her captivity.
