Colby was bored. As he normally was on a random Saturday. They had no filming plans. His friends weren't in town. He was bored. (Same.)

Sure he could  bother Sam, they could watch something or play a game, but Colby was hungry. So he pushed his ideas away and stumbled downstairs.

He began to think of his dream earlier, the phantom kiss. Colby closed his eyes, shaking his head lightly.

He entered an empty kitchen, walking towards the fridge, he was expecting to see some sort of fruit or leftovers, but the fridge was nearly bare. So he went to the cabinet, same situation. (Honestly I should prob clean out my fridge -__-)

Colby sighed, deciding he would have to go out to eat something. He trudged up the stairs, dragging his feet behind him.

He reached his room, and decided to change, grabbing a black shirt, and some sweat pants. He put some rings on his fingers and grabbed his phone from his nightstand. He slipped out of his door and approached Sam's door.

He knocked, the door slightly ajar. Colby peaked his head inside the door. Sam was groaning, rubbing his eyes and coughing slightly.

"You good Sam?" Colby asked, walking farther into his room.

"Don't feel well." Sam mumbled. (Same ToT)

"I'm going to go out for food, do you want me to grab you anything?"

"Mnm, you'know what I like." Same muttered, couching again.

"Gotcha, have you taken anything?" Colby said, reaching for his friends head. It was burning.

"Yeah. Took ibuprofen, like n' hour ago."

"Okay, feel better, call me if you need anything." He said, kissing his friends forehead, without thinking.

He immediately turned and walked towards the door, his face heating up, most likely doused in red. He rushed down the stairs, trying to ignore his flushed face.

Colby grabbed his keys and approached the front door, he bolted to his car, the sun beaming down onto his skin. Once he got into the car, he drove. Not really worried about where he was going.

An hour.

He had been driving for an hour. Thinking about random things. But mostly, his best friend.

Then his phone rang, speak of the devil.

Incoming Call from : Sam (my bitch)

And he shall appear.

Colby answered. "Where the hell are you?" A worried Sam yelled, with a raspy voice. "I've called and texted like a million times!"

"I... I actually don't know where I am. I just kept driving... mindlessly. Gosh... I'm sorry to worry you."

"I THOUGHT YOU DIED OR SOMETHING! Jesus Colby, just pull off the road or something. I'll check your location." Sam stressed angrily.

Colby complied, as if not to worry his best friend more. He pulled into the parking lot of some sort of café. There was not much of a road, just a dusty dirt path leading up and around the business. It lead into some sort of forest, a thick canopy covered most of the parking lot. Even with the car doors closed you could hear the chirping of the birds and the chattering of small critters. Colby smiled, letting the car air conditioner breathe down on his warm skin (she said "you don't know me"-)

"JESUS CHRIST COLBY YOUR HALFWAY ACROSS THE STATE!" Sam screamed, snapping Colby out of his wistful thoughts. "What had your mind occupied for that long!?"

You.

"You."

Colby slapped a hand over his mouth, heat rising to his face.

Silence filled the car. It felt like hours before he heard a response.

"Okay Colby, just come home." Sam said sarcastically, coughing back awkwardly.

Colby paused, "There's this cool looking café, I might grab something from there if that's okay."

"Fine, just don't let your mind wander back to my wonderful face." Sam said, and you could almost feel the smirk in his voice.

"Yeah yeah, text you soon?"

"Mhm." Sam hummed, "See you soon."

Then Colby heard the sound of disconnecting from the call. He exhaled generously. He popped his AirPod's in his ears, before opening the car doors, locking them behind himself.

He ordered whatever looked good, just nodding to whatever the cashier recommended.

The café wasn't busy, there was a man, who looked to be in his late 60's, reading by a window with his coffee. The shop was a bit rundown, the paint seemed to peel off of the wooden floors and the wallpaper was curling at the edges. But it felt cozy, it was warm inside, but cooler than the California heat.

"Order for Colby." A brunette at the counter grinned. Colby got up and took the food with his right hand, handing the girl a tip with his left. She nodded and thanking him, and then walking into the back.

'Got the food, headed your way.' Colby texted, placing the food int the passenger seat.

Sam responded with a thumbs up. (Kinda dad core ngl)

The ride back was long, as Colby didn't let Sam occupy his thoughts. He listened to some music. Letting his breath even out, and his brain go into autopilot mode.

"I'm home!" Colby said bursting through the door. Sam came bounding downstairs, like a kid on Christmas.

"THANK GOD, I'M STARVING!" Sam shouted, grabbing the food from Colby's hands and running into the kitchen.

"Yeah missed you too, babes." Colby mumbled, smiling and shaking his head at Sam's actions. (Btw for anyone wondering, 'babes' is a friendly nickname between me and my friends, so I just used it for this book)

Sam opened one of the containers, not even asking Colby which one his food was. He Dover head first into the pastries and the stack of pancakes. "Mhm! I should let you think of me while driving more often." He said, his mouth stuffed.

Colby just looked at him and smiled, grabbing the other box and taking a bite.
