Alrighty so yalls know how the tuck musical is set in 1893?
Well the book is set in 1870 and there doesn't seem to be a reason why they changed it, BUT
If Winnie is 11 in 1893, when would she turn 17? 1899. You know what happened in 1889? Newsies. Jesse would have gotten really sad when Winnie turned 17 and didn't come find him. How he could've coped? BECOMING A NEWSIE. And you know who else was 17 in 1899? OUR VERY OWN JACK KELLY.
So what I'm getting at, Jesse is Crutchie (that's why the polio didn't kill him) and maybe Winnie did run away, but ended up being a girlsie.
(And they could've known each other during that time, but we're not gonna go into that because I have a paper to finish and don't wanna burn out my brain.)
I also headcanon that Jesse does mountain climbing without any oxygen tanks or safety gear or anything because he can't die so he's just tap dancing up Mount Everest living his best life and hoping no one questions it
Sort of on that subject it severely screws with my sense of Time (see what I did there... I'm not funny) that Velma Kelly from Chicago could be Jack Kelly's daughter, if you fenaggle the timelines right
