This one took me way too long to write, but I didn't want to leave out the important character development. Well, that's just how writing fanfiction is sometimes.
The Fire Nation ship raced over the sea in search for the Avatar. Zuko knew he was no longer the only one searching for him, so it was better to hurry.
The firebender in question meanwhile was sitting cross-legged, meditating. Four candles that sat in front of him and glowed softly, illuminating the room in an red-ish and somewhat orange hue.
With each breath Zuko drew in, the flames became smaller, and every time he exhaled, the flames became larger. For a moment, Zuko seemed completely calm.
But the calm moment was cut short, as Iroh, though very quietly, opened the door. Zuko didn't even turn to him before speaking up.
And still, he seemed surprisingly calm as he spoke, "The only reason you should be interrupting me, is if you have news about the Avatar.
"Well, I actually came here to bring you something (y/n) left in his room. Well, there is news too, Prince Zuko, but you might not like it. Don't get too upset." Iroh spoke as Zuko gave him a short glance, seeing Iroh carrying a scroll, most likely a map, and a small, worn out book.
He turned back forward as he spoke again, "Uncle, you taught me that keeping a level head is a sign of a great leader. Whatever you have to say, I'm sure I can take it. Start with the news." Iroh was almost surprised about how calm Zuko was being, but didn't question it.
"Okay then," Iroh said, "We have no idea where the Avatar is."
Instantly the flames on the four candles erupted into an almost volcanic burst of fire, as Zuko whipped around and jumped up with a glare on his face.
"What!?!?" Zuko yelled, completely enraged. Iroh used one hand to shield his face from the flames, before taking out a folding fan and fanning himself off.
"You really should open a window in here." Iroh's comment was left ignored as Zuko snatched the scroll from Iroh's hand.
"Give me the map!" He opened the scroll and scanned over it with his eyes while Iroh continued speaking.
"Well, there have been multiple sightings of the Avatar, but he is impossible to track down." Hearing his explanation, Zuko sighed.
Desperate, but calmer, Zuko spoke again, "How am I going to find him, Uncle? He is clearly a master of evasive maneuvering."
Iroh's tone shifted, though it was barely noticeable, "Well, I'm not sure. Maybe start with just guessing... Or maybe checking out this book (y/n) left behind?"
Zuko scoffed, "How would (y/n)'s stupid diary help me locate him?! He's not writing it from the other side of the world!"
Iroh shrugged, opening the book onto a random page, "Well, it might seem like a 'stupid diary,'" Iroh said as he flipped through the book, though not actually delving into things too much, out of respect, "But it has something else here too." Iroh's tries to gain Zuko's interest were in vain.
"Well how very interesting!" Zuko let out sarcastically.
"There are some things about the Avatar-" Iroh had barely spoken as Zuko whipped around to face Iroh and snatched the book from Iroh.
"Give it to me, now!" Zuko didn't even notice how a smile appeared on Iroh's face as Zuko went back to the table and started reading through the book, already fully immersed.
:D
Sokka was examining the groups only map carefully, only wearing his shirt and underwear, before calling over to Aang, who was sitting on Appa's head.
