"i've got a lot to live without, i'm never gonna meet what could've been, would've
been, what should've been you"

"i'm... homesick," tay suddenly admitted, her voice quiet but heavy with emotion. "i've been so busy with the tour and the new album that i feel like i haven't seen my parents in ages." she glanced at taylor, who looked slightly puzzled.

he hesitated for a moment. "i love you, so i'm not going to press you on this. have you thought about visiting your mom?" he asked gently.

just as she was about to answer, her phone lit up, revealing a text from travis. they had started talking a few months earlier, and although she was initially conflicted about giving him her number, she hadn't been able to shake the connection they'd shared at selena's party.
she wouldn't even admit to blake how much she looked forward to their conversations. though always friendly, there was something about their exchanges that she cherished.

"hey, are you still with me?" taylor's voice broke through her thoughts, laced with concern.

she quickly put her phone down. "sorry, you have my full attention now," she said, trying to refocus.

they talked for another ten minutes before paparazzi forced them to rush to tay's car. once they got home, she kissed taylor goodnight and headed up to her penthouse.

The Next Day

"have you told taylor yet?" blake's voice carried a motherly tone as it came through the phone.

"no... i was going to, i swear," tay replied anxiously. "but i'm scared. blake, this changes everything."

blake paused, the silence heavy. "tay, you know i love you, but i'm disappointed. you should have told him."

"i know. i'm disappointed in myself too." tay's voice trembled, barely holding back tears. "how do i even begin to tell him... that i'm pregnant?"

"oh, sweetheart," blake sighed sympathetically.
"i wish i could give you a big hug, you will be an amazing mom, if you are half the mom you have been as a godmother then i know that baby will be loved greatly."

One Month Later

tay sat alone, eating dinner while listening to blake's voicemail, laughing to herself as blake passionately argued about pineapples on pizza. taylor walked in and kissed her on the forehead just as she played the final message.

"so, girl, i went shopping after pizza and saw the cutest baby clothes. you need to tell me the gender of your baby already so"

tay quickly turned off the message, panic flooding her. she hadn't told taylor yet. she'd had opportunities but always avoided the conversation. it was easier to live in denial.

"what did she just say?" taylor's confused tone cut through her thoughts. "are you... pregnant?"

his voice was a mix of excitement and confusion, but before tay could answer, he continued, "wait, i'm going to be a dad? yes! how far along are you?"

tay swallowed hard, tears threatening to spill.
"i... i didn't mean for you to find out like this."

taylor's face fell, the goofy grin he'd worn starting to fade. "honey... how far along are you?" he asked again, a little more serious this time.

"i don't know," tay admitted, her voice quiet and quick.

"well, it sounds like we need to schedule a doctor's appointment!" taylor said with a small chuckle, trying to ease the tension.

silence followed, awkward and heavy. tay stared at the rug, recalling how blake had spilled wine on it the previous year. her tears finally spilled over, running down her cheeks as the weight of everything pressed on her.
