Miles away from town and civilization, a beautiful manor sits atop a lonely mountain. All the lights are off, and windows are blocked, but a steady stream of smoke billowing out of a chimney is evidence that someone is inside. You wouldn't expect someone to be living out here because the commute to town would be atrocious, but maybe that's the point.

The figure inside wears a long navy coat that barely touches the floor; the hood has white faux fur around the edges and is lined with silk. They pace back and forth in the foyer and keep an eye on the door, impatiently waiting for his guest to arrive. The person in question is not one to run late, but he hasn't sensed him cross the threshold at the end of the driveway. Tango closes his red eyes and sighs. He's probably just being paranoid because of the supernatural cases rising in the city just a few miles from his manor. He checks the grandfather clock once more, and the second it passes Jimmy's normal arrival time, he feels something in the air shift.

Goosebumps form all over his arms, and a painful chill shoots down his spine. Danger, it screams, and that's enough for Tango to bolt out the door at record speed and follow the path he knows Jimmy takes to get to him every time. The rocks of his driveway dig into his feet, and he winces, making a mental note to get thicker boots. A shiver wracks his body, screaming with fear and panic this time. Tango quickly abandons running down the path and swings himself into a tree. He uses the branches to launch forward, traveling much faster than before.

Branches and leaves cut his face, but Tango doesn't care. Plus, they are small enough to heal instantly anyway. He takes a deep breath through his nose and zeros in on his senses of smell, hearing, and sight. His senses are instantly overwhelmed by the sounds of animals and insects in the area, which forces his ears to reach further in front of him. Finally, he picks up the sound of shuffling in dirt and the smell of Jimmy, but there's another scent that causes his ears to press flat against his head and his eyes narrow to slits.

He stops in a tree just a few paces away and can barely contain his rage at what he sees. Jimmy's strong; he does a lot of heavy lifting for work and has helped Tango out plenty of times by fixing places in the manor that had run down over time. However, he can only hold out for so long against a vampire. The attacker's two sharp canines flash in the moonlight, and Tango drops from his perch, altering the two to his presence. Jimmy keeps his chin tucked to his chest like Tango told him while the vampire on top of him looks at Tango with a crazed look.

Tango crosses his arms and puts weight on his left leg, "Tsk, a vampire too far gone hunting humans for blood. You guys have no class nowadays. And hunting a Lord's mate nonetheless, you, sir, are very bold."

At the mention of Lord, the vampire attacker gives the air a test sniff and can smell Tango's strength and status rolling off. He's never smelt a Lord before, but he can deduce that Tango is not an ordinary vampire.

The grip on Jimmy's shoulders loosens slightly, so Tango continues, "I'm willing to let you live, but this behavior is not going to be left unchecked. You're lucky the only thing I'll be doing is reporting this incident to the council. And I have friends in high places, pal, so you'll think twice, maybe thrice, about what you'll do to my buddy right there."

The vampire attacker keeps his head trained on Tango, but his eyes glance down briefly at Jimmy, who is trying hard not to smile despite the circumstances. He shakes his head and tries to clear his throat, but his voice still sounds scratchy: "Need... food."

Tango digs into the inside of his coat and pulls out a card. He flicks it towards the vampire, and it lands in the dirt next to him. "That's the HSIG, Hermit Supernatural Intelligence Group. They'll have everything you need. Follow along with their program and get better. If I find out you hunted another human after this incident, I won't hesitate to see to you myself personally."
