Amaya glared at the closed door and muttered to herself, "I'd rather kill myself than get close to them, but first, you must die. Once I get my hands on the evidence, there will be no need for a gun my words will do all the work." Her voice was filled with hatred, and her eyes burned with anger.

A week later...
"Okay, bro..." Vihaan said as he hung up the call. Lifting his bag from the couch and slinging him over his shoulder, he looked at Surekha and said, "Mom, brother said he'll come in two days..." Then, he glanced up at the stairs.
Surekha nodded in agreement and said, "Fine. You, too, come back early today. We need to prepare for the puja." As she spoke, she sent a message to someone on her phone.
Vihaan nodded and looked back up the stairs, calling loudly, "Bhabhi, it's time to go!"
Amaya came rushing down the stairs, replying, "I'm here..." as she checked her bag.
She was wearing light blue straight pants and a light blue crop top without sleeves. Along with that, she carried a small black bag slung over her shoulder, and her hair was left loose. She had paired the outfit with white shoes, looking every bit like a college-going girl, which she indeed was.
Vihaan, on the other hand, was dressed in white pants and a dark blue shirt with brown shoes. His hair was neatly styled, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing his veins, giving him a very hot look. He wore a watch that further emphasized his fit, lean hands, adding to his charm.
Surekha glanced at Amaya and asked in a normal tone, "When will you be back?"
Amaya looked at Surekha, who was wearing a blue sari with her hair tied in a bun. Despite being a woman in her thirties, she looked nowhere near like the mother of a 30-year-old son.
With a small smile, Amaya replied, "I'll be back by evening."
Surekha checked the time on her phone and said, "Don't be late. There's no one at home today. Apoorva has shifted to her apartment, and Meenu and I will go out to get things for the prayer. The men are always busy with their work, and on top of that, Vanya will be tied up at the hospital all day." She sighed with a sense of resignation.
Hearing that no one would be home, Amaya's face tensed, as if this was the moment she had been waiting for.
Just then, Vihaan grabbed her hand and, pulling her along, said, "Come on, Bhabhi, we'll be late!"
---
In the car, Amaya's mind was racing. She sat in the passenger seat while Vihaan drove. Noticing her silence, Vihaan asked, "What's wrong, Bhabhi?" His eyes were on the road, but his concern for Amaya was clear in his voice.
Amaya snapped back to reality and, after a few moments of hesitation, asked, "Vihaan, can I ask you something?" Her voice was uncertain.
Vihaan gave her his signature smile and said, "Bhabhi, you can ask me a thousand questions, and I'll answer every one of them."
Amaya hesitated before asking, "Is it right for someone to hurt an innocent person out of hatred? What would you do if you were in that situation?"
Vihaan was a bit taken aback by the question, but before he could respond, Amaya quickly added, "I mean... last night, I was watching a movie where this happened. Tell me, Vihaan, would you go to any lengths for revenge? Would you hurt people connected to the guilty? Or would you just let it go?"
Her eyes were fixed on Vihaan, filled with a deep-seated rage.
Vihaan thought for a moment and replied, "If someone wants revenge, there's usually a reason behind it. People aren't born evil; they're made that way." His eyes stayed on the road, but he continued, "No one is born a villain. It's the people around them who turn them into one. But if people have created a monster, they'll have to face the consequences, right? Still, becoming a monster yourself and punishing innocents? That could turn the innocent into monsters, too. Someone who knows what it's like to be evil wouldn't want another innocent soul to go through the same pain."
Amaya listened intently, Vihaan's words striking a chord with her.
Seeing her quiet, Vihaan asked, "What happened, Bhabhi? Why are you so silent?"
Amaya turned her face to look out of the window and softly said, "Sometimes, I stay quiet because no words can express what's going on in my heart and mind."
Though her voice was low, Vihaan heard her clearly.
Amaya leaned her head back on the seat and drifted into her memories.

**Age 10**
"Oh, come on, Mom! Dad has been waiting for so long!" A young Amaya twirled around in her pink frock, urging her mother, who was adjusting the pallu of her green sari.
Amaya wore a cute little pink frock that looked adorable on her. Her hair was shoulder-length and naturally colored.
Making a pout, little Amaya looked at her mother, who then picked her up, smiling, and said, "Alright, let's go, Daddy's little girl." She tugged at Amaya's cheeks, making her giggle joyfully.
---
Coming out of her memories, Amaya's eyes filled with tears. She silently thought, "You're right, Vihaan. No one is born a monster. It's the people who turn innocent souls into monsters." Though her eyes were brimming with tears, she refused to let them fall.
But the next moment, those tear-filled eyes were replaced by anger. Gritting her teeth, she thought to herself, "You ruined me, you ruined everything I loved. And now you'll watch as I set your world on fire..."
