Hearing Riaan's words, Amaya's steps halted. Her mind immediately recalled the note that came with the parcel. It said, "The princess has grown up..." along with a family photo of Amaya, where she was around 15 or 16 years old. As these memories flooded her mind, Amaya instantly understood that Riaan was the one who had sent her the parcel. This meant that Riaan knew everything about her true identity.
Amaya turned to look at Riaan, who had a sinister smile on his face. They both locked eyes. While they both now knew each other's secrets, neither had concrete evidence to confirm it.
Riaan began taking slow, deliberate steps towards Amaya, his voice heavy as he said, "What did you think, Amaya Devrat Suryavanshi? Or should I say, Amaya Riaan Singh Shekhawat..." His lips curved into a twisted, dangerous smile.
Amaya's throat went dry, and her heart felt like it had leaped into her throat. Her heartbeat quickened. Riaan stopped just inches away from her and, lifting her chin with a finger, said, "Did you really think, Mrs. Shekhawat, that only you could play this game, that only you could be the mastermind while everyone else was just a pawn? Hmm?..." He moved his lips dangerously close to hers.
Amaya's mind went blank. Riaan applied more pressure on her chin and said, "Did you really think this was your game?..." He chuckled softly, a laugh as menacing as he was. Amaya wanted to say something; her lips trembled, but no sound escaped her throat.
Riaan placed his hand on her waist and pulled her so close that the distance between them vanished entirely. One hand on her waist, the other tracing her cheek, he said in a harsh tone, "You didn't play the game, the game was played on you..."
Hearing this, Amaya regained her composure. She was furious, but she also knew that right now, Riaan had the upper hand. A wrong move from her could cost her dearly.
Seeing the fear on her face, the dryness in her eyes, and the cold sweat on her body, Riaan felt a sense of calm. His heart, burning with revenge, began to cool because he knew he was about to destroy Amaya.
Suddenly, Riaan released her, causing Amaya to stumble two steps back. He laughed cruelly, "Hah, but now this game is over. Don't say I didn't give you a chance to win. You stayed in my house for a week as my wife, but you couldn't do anything..." He looked at her as though she meant nothing to him.
As Riaan spoke, Amaya clenched her fists tighter and tighter. The fear in her eyes was gradually being replaced by anger. Her desire for revenge, the pain she had endured, the sacrifices she had made-they couldn't all go to waste. How could Amaya let this happen? She gritted her teeth and said, "Did you give me a chance to win, or were you running away from defeat, Mr. Shekhawat?..." Her brown eyes had turned dark with hatred.
Riaan, hearing her words, stared into her eyes for a moment before bursting into laughter, as if he had heard the best joke. His laughter stunned Amaya for a second, but it only fueled her anger. She stepped closer to Riaan and said, "Are you trying to hide your defeat behind that laugh, Mr. Shekhawat?.. " A mocking smile played on her lips.
Riaan stopped laughing, tucked a strand of Amaya's hair behind her ear, and said softly, "Oh, and you think I, Riyan Singh Shekhawat, could ever lose? Let me be clear, Mrs. Shekhawat, you may think you manipulated this marriage, but the truth is, it happened because of me. You could only make your plans because I allowed it. You're standing in the Shekhawat mansion, in my bedroom, because I wanted you to..."
Amaya, now composed, chuckled lightly and said, "The marriage happened on your terms, I'm here because of you, but..." She stopped, standing so close, her finger slowly traced from his forehead to his chin as she whispered, "You had already fled. When the player wasn't even in the field, who was I supposed to play with?..."
Her eyes flicked to his lips for a brief moment before she continued, "And what victory are you talking about, Mr. Shekhawat? Because I haven't lost. You think you can make me admit defeat? Never. You could kill me right now, but that doesn't mean I've lost..."
Before Amaya could finish, Riaan grabbed her hand, twisted it behind her back, and growled, "And you think you're worthy of standing against me? You think I'd give you the chance to make a move? Whether you admit it or not, you've already lost..."
Amaya cut him off, saying, "Worthy? Hah, if I weren't worthy, would the great Riyan Singh Shekhawat have made plans to defeat me? Would you have married me if I weren't worthy? If I weren't worthy, would you have given me this so-called chance? And if I weren't worthy, would I have stolen your beloved project right under your nose? You know very well that the only one who loses is the one who accepts defeat..."
Her eyes were cold, her face filled with anger, hatred, and attitude. For a moment, Riaan was shocked to see this side of Amaya. But soon, a small smile appeared on his face, and in a soft voice, he said, "Then let's see if I can make you admit defeat..." He released her and walked out of the room.
As soon as Riaan left, Amaya let out a long breath. She had been holding herself together for so long, but now her legs gave way, and she collapsed onto the floor. On her knees, hands on the ground, her head hung low as a tear fell to the floor. It was still early in the day, and yet so many shocks had already come her way-first Neel, and now Riaan's truth.
Until now, Amaya thought she had everything under control, but in reality, she was the one in Riaan's grip. And if she had admitted defeat today or if Riaan had truly ended the game, she would never have been able to take her revenge.
On the other side
Apoorva, ready and stepping out of her room, bumped into someone. She almost fell, but a hand caught her waist, preventing her from hitting the ground. Frightened, she had closed her eyes, but when she realized she hadn't fallen and someone had saved her, she sighed in relief and slowly opened her eyes.
Before her stood a handsome face, one that made her heart skip a beat. Apoorva stared at him, her heart was racing.
The man steadied her and scolded her with concern, "Silly girl, where's your attention? You could've hurt yourself if you had fallen..." He lightly tapped her on the forehead.
Apoorva nodded slightly and said, "I.. I was thinking about my brother. He's back.. and his project..." Before she could finish, the man interrupted, "Riaan gone to his room, and don't worry about the project, Riaan will handle everything." His voice was soft and gentle.
Apoorva couldn't bring herself to meet his eyes. She looked everywhere but at him, her gaze finally settling on his shirt as she said softly, "Okay.. and.. thank you for saving me..."
A sad smile crossed his face as he quietly said, "I'll save you every time..."
Hearing this, apoorva looked up, but still couldn't meet his eyes. Staring at his lips, she whispered, "Maybe not.. you won't always be able to save me.. Neel..." Her voice broke.
Neel, who had been carefully watching her face, turned and started to walk away but stopped after a few steps. "I'll try to save you as many times as I can. And when I can't, I hope you learn to save yourself..." With that, he walked away.
Watching him leave, apoorva's eyes softened. In a choked voice, she whispered to herself, "I'm already strong, Neel.. How do I explain to you that I only fall when you're there to catch me, that I only get into trouble when you're there to save me? But.. but you.. you broke my heart, Neel.. you broke my heart."
