The Scent of Betrayal

"From the evidence that had been collected it has become clear what has happended. We just dont know who did it." Jason is sat in the debfriefing room explaining surrounded by all the unifromed officers that he has had to help him, "Hannah was kept in the attic from when she was last seen, she was last seen in May of 2021. She was murdered in the July of the same year, her baby was unable to make full term because of the murder, this means that it is two homicides. Hannah was kept in some sort of make shift flat in the attic. We have managed to get the couples finacal records Keith Smith has purchesed all the matrieals in April of the same year. Renovations from the house were commensed for 3 weeks but from everyones memory nothing changed within the house. I have queastioned the children and they recall that their mmother aslo thought it was strange. However we dont know if she was involved in the planning." Jason paused. "Hannah was kept there for over 10 weeks, fourtunatly she had all the amenities that she could have needed, from testomenys that I have gathered Emma had heard some strange noises from the attic."

He contuined the debreifing, it had been clear that Hannah had been made to stay in the home until she gave birth to the child. Jason suspected that Keith had killed Hannah to make sure that Emma didnt know he had kept her in the attic to stop the media attention that they had been getting. He couldnt help but feel for the women in this mans life they all seemed to have their lives fall apart, they are either dead or all messed up. Keith just seem to mess these woman about he was married to Emma for 40 years and from what they have found he had at least 8 mistrisses in the last 20 years, all of the woman were payed off or just forgotten about. They have interviewed all eight woman who have said since having the affair their lives have gone completely down hill, divorce, bankrobsy. The woman that didnt accept his pay out have had their lives ruined of course non of it could be traced back to Keith but it was strongly believed he had something to do with it.

Hours of interigation later and they found 6 womans who lives were ruined after they ended the relationship, either the husband found out in some sort of note, or phone call that couldnt be traced back to anyone. Some of them had their jobs call and fire them over false complanits that had been made about them. Some of them had socail services called on them 100s of times until they had been taken seriously. These woman had their lives ruined because they wouldnt take a pay out. One of these woman had the police called on her for a false claim, it still went on her record. She lost her job, her house and her marriage, her husband won the children in the divorse, her whole life went to shit because of some police complaint. She went to a mental insition. It was never proven that it was Keith but her parents thought it could have been.

Jason had questione them all about their whereabouts on the day of the murder but they all had hard alibis. All the parents were questioned and all have alibis. They were all ruled out completely, Hannah got the worst of all of the woman. He could only track down 8 woman but he suspected there would be more woman and he didnt know where they were, if they were alive.

Morton was convinced that Keith had killed Hannah, he trapped her in the attic and then he kept her there for over two months so he didnt have to deal with the consiqueses. He believed it was just the plan just to keep her there until the baby was born and he could have talked her round to just disappering into the great world. Jason wondered if he had done this to more woman he seemed to know how to make a flat that was liveable. He was looking at the floorplan of the makeshift flat. A single bed, walls breaking up all the little rooms they had, it had a working fridge and a microwave. The flat even had running water, a shower and a toilet. Hundres of books at least she had something to do while she waited.

Hannah's finger prints were all over every book, all over the sides. They had found more finger prints in the flat they were just waiting for the results to come in. It was obviously Keith SMmith but he knew had to do it by the book. Jason felt awful for this woman she had been held captive for two months. Just books to keep her company, she didnt even get to see her baby come into the world. He stole everything from her and all she did was ask him to take responsiblity for his actions. Keith couldnt even take that accountablitiy. He put his wife though hell, having affair after affair. Morton wondered if she knew about the woman he was seeing behind her back. When the woman had been interviewed it was clear he wasnt hiding the other woman.

"Hello, Miss Cameron... Can we talk about your affair with Keith Smith?"

"I didnt kill him but he deserved it he ruined my life-"

"My cliant is here under her own free will I want that noted, we have prepared a statment" Miss Camerons snotty laywer interupted her. "Miss Emily Cameron wants the record to show that her affair with Keith Smith ended five years ago, she has not seen or heard from anyone in the Smith family since the affair ened. After the relationship eneded it is supsected that Keith Smith called the police line and made a fasle report agaisnt her. Miss Cameron was never under the infulence of any kind of drug while driving her car. She was also never a prostitue, she has never solicited sex in her life. After the phone call was made to her husband he filed for divorse and won the children in the procedings, Keith Smith ruined my clients life. After the trial from the false claims she lost her job and couldnt support herself, she had to move back in with her parents. She was made to pay child support which totals to £94 a week, which after fighting did go down to £3.90 as Miss cameron does not work." Jason thought some of this informations was irrelivent but he listened regardless. "Miss Cameron was in a bar with her boyfriend when the murder was commited, this can be verified by at least 20 different people. Her boyfriend does not wished to be named at this time. I am sure you have seen but Miss Cameron had sent a letter to Mr Smith suing him for ruining her life."

Jason thought the lawyer was waffling on and he didnt want to listen anymore, he wanted to talk to Miss Cameron not her insufferable lawyer.

A while later a notifcation came through on Jasons computer, it was Rob.

"Jay its Rob, its not Keiths finger prints. They are Emma's"
