"Jason, the Smith children are here to collect the bodies, I know Bryce wanted it fast tracked. Fucked my entire month to fast track these two through and make them funeral ready." Rob appared in Jasons office, Sheppard looked absolutely furious. Not suprising Bryce has absolutely fucked the work around here because he wanted this solved for selfish reasons. Jason wondered if it was Bryce that told the uniforms not to tell him about Hannah Blair.

"Are they all here?" Morton asks, knowing he hadn't seen Amiee since the night they had gotten drunk together. It was clear what had happened that night, but there had been no contact since that phone call. On either end, maybe it was odd.

"Yes they are all here, they want to speak to you before they see the bodies. Plus there is paperwork to sign. I am gonna need you to be the witness, the usual is sick."

"I will be right down Rob. Have they set up the funeral? Am I about to be confronted with a bloody hearse?" Jason adds.

"The funeral is this evening they will be picked up at 15:30 for the funeral" with that Rob left.

Jason headed down to the morgue, there he was confronted by the delightful Mrs Anderson. He could hear her before he could see her, she was shouting at someone or another that this was taking too long.

"Mrs Anderson, I would appreciate that you didn't berate my staff. I understand today is a hard day but yelling at these members of staff doesn't make me walk down the stairs any faster. All it does is makes everyone uncomfortable, if you speak to my staff like that again i will have to ask you to remain outside." Jason said, not breaking his stride into the small room with at least ten different people in it.

"There are too many people in this room, if you are not blood related, or adopted, by or to the Smiths than please go wait outside. This is a very small room. And this is going to be difficult enough, if you dont think you are up for seeing them this is your moment to exit" A few grumbles later the five children, Jason, and Rob are the only people left in the room. The curtain was pulled back to reveal the pair. Rob had done a fantasic job, they didnt look like they had been brutally murdered by some sadistic fuck. The Smiths almost looked as if they were just sleeping. He knew what wonders Rob could do but he didn't think he was this good.

Jason isn't listening when Rob is describing the paperwork to David Smith, he had thought it was odd that the crackhead was the one that was trusted to sign the paperwork. His eyes found themselves landing on Aimee, it had been a week since the night in The Green Rooster, she wasn't looking at him. But he took her in, hearing Hobbs warning  from a few days prior 'That girl is trouble, something isn't right Jason.' He looked to and from all of the children, but his eyes always lingered on Aimee. She didnt look, not once. As if he was nothing, as if they hadnt spilled their hearts to each other and then spent the night together, it annoyed him slightly. Why was she not looking at him? He wanted to believe that she was good but there were some questions hanging in his head-

"Detective Morton, could you witness the signing and the handing over the body to the family," the voice grabbed him and brought him harshly back into the present.

"Of course, can I get though?" He put his hand on Aimees lower back, he felt something. She shifted out of the way, he wondered if she felt it too. Jason felt daggers in the back of his head. Presumibly from Rebecca, it wasnt a secret they now did not get on. She probably hated the fact Jason was touching his younger sister. He found himself thinking 'if only you knew, you made this happen. Bitch'

He witnessed the signing. After scribbling his signature on the sheet where he was told he turned to Rob,

"Do I have to be here at 15:30 to watch them take the body away? you know how I feel about coffins" Jason said to his friend. Now ignoring the five other people in the room, only listening to Rob. He felt eyes on him but he didnt bother to check who was looking.

"Bryce wants you at the funeral, sorry Morton."

Jason didn't want to go, he didn't have a suit on hand. He stormed into Bryces office. Bryce had been on the phone when he walked in, he didn't bother knocking he just burst in. He anger clearly showing as the call was quickly wrapped up.

"Why do I have to go to the funeral?"

"Because I said so, so go home and get ready. I need you to watch David, I have a feeling about him. Dont even think about arguing with me Morton, go home now. I will see you here at 15: 00, or consider yourself jobless." His boss said.
"I know you don't like funerals and I know what week it is but you have a job to do do not forget that. And I will possible forget your indiscretion with the young Miss Smith"

Jason couldn't argue with that, he had no words to be able to make a fair point,

"Fine, but I'm not happy about it." He turned on his heel, and walked out if the office happy he had got the last word. Pissed off that he still had to go to a funeral that he didnt want to go to. With a woman who he had slept with, and then not been contacted by. And a woman who clearly hates his guts. Great, he felt thrilled with how his day had gone.

He drove himself home and got showered, he had some time to kill. He was in his kitchen when his phone pinged. It was a text from Aimee

'Are you going to be at the funeral ?'

'Yes.' Jason replied

'Good.'

Jason didn't reply after that, he had his lunch. While he was getting his suit on, the same one he had buried Lucy in an the one that he had attended for his fathers funeral. It still fitted the suit he had brought for his wedding, six years before. It was just a sickeing reminder of what he had lost.

Ping

'I want to see you again, dinner?'

He didn't answer. He didnt have the words to answer, as he drove back to the office he had let his mind wonder. He knew he had messed up big time and he wondered about it all and where he now stood.

Lucy was on his mind.
