This was about to be very awkward.

Knock... Knock

"Jason, I wondered when I would see you again. Do you have something to say to me?"

"I am sorry mum. I wasnt thinking straight, I have the chair in the boot. I sorry I overrated."

His mother didnt answer, she just looked at the man standing in the doorway of her house. She wanted to be angry but she wasnt, she couldnt ever find it in her to be angry at Jason. Even when he told her he didnt want to go to church, or when he came home drunk the first time. She was never angry, often diappionted but never angry at him. All she saw when she looked at him was the scared little boy she had saved from the childrens home 26 years ealier.

Jason was just stood there looking at his mother for wha felt like an eternnity, it was more like 30 seconds but he was often dramaic about time.

"I guess you had better come in then. Unless you are going to steal another chair fom me. I only have 3 more chairs." The trace of a smile cascaded over her lips and Jason knew it wasnt going to be a problem for right now. Jason went back to his car to collect the chair, he awkwardly brought the chair into the house. He placed it where it belonged in the dining room at the head of the table, it seemed silly to have taken the chair away in the first place.

"I am sorry mum, I shouldn't have taken the chair, I feel like a child again. I dont know what to say about it other than I'm sorry."

She didnt turn to face him, she knew he had been upset to find out about her new partner but she didnt think he would tke the chair with him. Jason placed the other chairs around how they should have been, then he took a seat at the table next to the chair which now looked weatherd even though it had only been a few days it was out in the graveyard. Morton just sat and looked at the table.

"Hows the case?" Lynn had brought herself and him a cup of tea and placed it on the table. Jason explained to his mum what was going on with the cases and then he made the mistake of mentioning Amiee. He flinched

"Who is Amiee?" She asked almost imideitly, Jason told the story and artfully missed the parts about them knocking boots. He watched his mothers face change when he talked about how beautiful she was.

"Jason this doesnt sound like a good idea..."
