Present
Her every word pierced through my heart. She started trembling, her breaths started becoming heavy. I wanted to hold her but my hands shivered at the thought of her not liking it or thinking that I'm someone like that bastard.
She grabbed my hand, "It didn't end there Avyaansh that traumatic experience continues to cast a long shadow over my life it left me grappling with a whirlwind of emotions-fear, anger, and confusion. Each day had become a struggle as I navigated the persistent echoes of that night, feeling isolated and burdened by memories that replay without warning" she sobbed and tears gathered in my eyes but I tried to hold them back.
The dam of her emotions broke. "I...I've never felt good enough after my breakup, I- I spiraled. His words echoed in my head, 'You're ugly, you're not worth it.' I started to believe them." I could feel a surge of panic clawing at her throat.
"Disha, please..." I urged, reaching out.
"No! You don't understand! I harmed myself to find relief Avyaansh, to feel something other than the pain. I've hidden my scars for so long. I didn't wear sleeveless dresses because I was ashamed!" Her voice grew louder, desperation spilling over as she showed me the scar on her left hand.
I felt a sharp pain in my chest.
Why does that little soul have to face so much?
I cupped her face in my hand, my gaze unwavering. "You're beautiful just the way you are Disha. You don't need to change for anyone."
She began to shake her head vigorously, choking on her tears. Please Disha don't, it's unbearable to watch you like that.
"Look at me, look at me Disha", I commanded and she looked at me with her teary eyes.
"Breath", I said, taking a deep breath along with her.
"I love you Disha, the moment I saw you I fell for you", I confessed, my voice sincere.
She stayed silent for a while.
"What if it's a lie" she whispered, vulnerability washing over her.
"Then I'll lie forever", I replied, my voice soft with affection as I wiped off her tears. Her eyes softened, "Use the card Avyaansh", she told while my eyes went wide after hearing it.
I wanted to use them everyday but I wanted to save it. The thought of getting those chances to hold her in my embrace was enough to make me happy.
I took out a card and gave it to her. She took it, with a sad smile on her face.
I hugged her tightly. So tight that I was afraid I might break her fragile body.
I wanted to absorb all her pain and shower her with all the love she deserves.
She wrapped her arms around my waist and buried her face in my chest.
I kept creasing her back and she kept sobbing, her tears soaking my t-shirt.
