The screen lights up with Oscar Pine walking down some stairs from the police station. Ozpin is seen waiting for him. "Ossie." He called to the younger man. "Would you like a ride home?"
The students and Em snickered at the nickname while Oscar rolls his eyes.
Oscar turns to him in confusion. "Who are you?"
"Your past incarnation," Nora said cheekily.
"What?" Em asked, looking to Oscar in confusion.
"I'll. . . explain later," Oscar replied reluctantly. He wasn't looking forward to explaining that to his only family.
"The guy that got you released," Ozpin replied.
"That ain't an answer," Oscar pointed out.
"A little gratitude would be nice. My name is Harry Ozpin and I gave you that medal," Ozpin introduced, he gestures to a medal on Oscar's person. "Your father saved my life."
Oscar looks at him in surprise.
"Did he really?" Whitley asked.
"Yes, as a matter of fact he did." Darth Anarchus replied. "And a lot of other people as well."
The scene changed to show Oscar with Ozpin at the pub the former and his friends usually drink in. The two are sitting at a booth table.
"Don't think this is okay for you to start drinking in our world," Em said to her nephew sternly.
"Relax, Aunt Em," Oscar replied. "I'll wait until I'm of age and only do so for special occasions."
"So, before you were a tailor, were you in the army? Like an officer?" Oscar questioned.
"Not quite," Ozpin responded.
"So where was you posted, Vacuo or something?" Oscar asked next.
"Sorry, Ossie, classified," Ozpin said.
"Isn't it always?" Qrow snorted.
Weiss thought the same thing when asking about Winter's military missions.
"But my dad saved your life, yeah?" was Oscar's next question.
"The day your father died, I missed something," Ozpin replied. "And if it weren't for his courage, my mistake would have cost the lives of every man present. So I owe him. Your father was a brave man. A good man."
His words made Oscar smile proudly.
Oscar couldn't help but smile too.
"And having read your files, I think he'll be pretty disappointed in the choices you've made," Ozpin noted bluntly.
"Wow, he doesn't mince words." Roman commented.
"You can't talk to me like that," Oscar said defensively.
"Huge IQ, great performance at primary school," Ozpin listed. "And it all went tits up. Drugs, petty crime, never had a job."
"Oh, you think there's a lot of jobs going around here, do you?" Oscar retorted.
"Doesn't explain why you gave up your hobbies." Ozpin replied. "First prize, Regional Under-10s gymnastics two years in a row. Your coach had you pegged as Olympic team material."
