"Good morning, doctor."
"Good morning," Jennie responded with a smile after coming out of her car. She was looking very energetic and vibrant as well. One wouldn't have believed that she was awake throughout the whole night. She greeted a few of her colleagues while she ignored those who wanted to be. On her way, she met a friend of hers who stopped her to have a few words with her.
"Hey, good morning."
"Morning. What's up?"
"A nurse told me that a patient was brought in here last night and you..."
"Yeah, I know about it. He is my patient. Don't worry. I have things under control."
"Are you sure?" The guy asked with uncertainty
"Yeah, I am. Thanks for asking by the way." Jennie walked past him hurriedly to her office to start the day's work. As she wore her coat, she stared at herself in the mirror. It was quite hectic to be a doctor but she loved her job very much.
Aside from the thought of her job, something else was bothering her.
"Don't worry too much, Jennie. You will do just great. Remember that you are doing this for the sake of your sister so stick to that." She encouraged herself in front of the mirror, raised her thumbs, and left the office with a medical file.
She made it her last mission to check up on Alex so she went ahead to fulfill the rest of her responsibilities. She was finally done after thirty minutes and then headed to Alex's ward.
She knocked softly, opened the door, and entered. She found Alex leaning against the wall while still on the bed. It was a relief that he was up. Their eyes met and she had no choice but to go ahead with her aim.
Alex's eyes didn't leave her for a second as if he was scared of her poisoning him so he needed to be watchful. Jennie seemed to have known this and decided to speak up.
"Calm down, okay? I am not going to do anything bad to an eighteen-year-old kid who is a bad guy. It is quite good to see that you are recovering from treatment and also responding to it. Congratulations, you are one way to success." She said sarcastically and sighed. She needed to calm down to have a civil discussion with him.
But first, her duty was important. She checked his necessary parts and then sat beside his bed after she was done. Alex was seriously having a staring contest with her. Jennie finally concluded that she knew why Ashley was so into him. Aside from his secret life, he was gorgeous, but this was a serious case; his looks mattered less.
"You took my sister along to where you caused a scene."
"Don't accuse me of something that you weren't there to witness." Alex retorted.
"The point remains that my sister got hurt because of you. You hid your medical condition from her..."
"I have no reason to tell her. She is the one who kept forcing herself on me. I didn't want to see her next to me but she followed me to my workplace."
Jennie was astounded and stood up. She placed her hands on her waist and scoffed in disbelief.
"I can't believe that you are saying this. You...damn, just forget it. I need you to do one thing for me. Ashley is my little sister and I don't want her to get hurt by someone like you. You don't care about her feelings and I don't want my sister to commit suicide because of a guy who can't even control his emotions and is as cold as ice. I need you to stay away from Ashley completely." She ordered.
"If you don't want trouble, remember that my father is a cop so stay away from her completely. You have brought enough chaos into her life and you don't even worth her. If anything happens to my sister then you are going to be held for it. Ridiculous!" Jennie spat out in anger.
"I can't believe she fell for someone this dumb." She mumbled and walked away. Alex's gaze turned cold and he folded his palms as his breathing became more harsh.

Ashley was full of energetic vibe, too, as she came out of the cab. She paid the driver and was allowed into the hospital. Her first thought was to go and see her sister but then, she changed her mind. That could wait till later so she headed towards Alex's ward.
She knocked politely, with a fast-paced heart, because she didn't know what his reaction would be. He might yell at her, fight with her but she sincerely hoped that whatever it was, he wouldn't push her away. She just wanted to apologize to him and maybe try to make him speak up. At least, she was able to know a few things about him yesterday.
She then opened the door but her face froze instantly. She came out and stared at the ward number. She was in the right room but where was Alex? There was someone else there and it was a female. She was sleeping so not wanting to disturb her, Ashley stepped back carefully and gently closed the door.
She wondered where he could have gone to. Did they perhaps change his ward?
"What are you doing here?" She heard her sister's voice behind her and quickly turned around.
"Big sis, thank goodness you are here. Isn't this Alex's ward? But I found someone else here instead. Where is he?" She asked eagerly with a tinge of fear.
"Didn't he tell you? He has already left. He has been discharged." Jennie replied.
"Oh really?" Ashley said with a displeased tone. She was a bit disappointed.
"That's just fine. I will call him." She assured herself.
"I will be going home then. Take care, Sis." She quickly walked past her before Jennie could even say a word to stop her. She watched her sister leave with a guilty conscience. She had never lied to her especially if it concerned the area where she existed. But she kept telling herself that she did nothing wrong. As much as she wished for her sister to have a lovely teenage love life, at least it should be with someone better, not the opposite.
Ashley was standing out of the hospital, dialing Alex's number, but he wasn't answering. After two trials, the call didn't get through again.
"What is wrong? Is he probably angry?" She mumbled and then continued walking. But she stopped, she looked behind her. Her eyes went to the windows of the ward rooms but didn't find anyone there so she relented and continued walking.
Inside one of the wards, Alex was leaning against the wall with his hands folded. He was staring at Ashley as she took a bus home. At the entrance was Jonathan with his hands inside his pockets. He was staring at his brother who was staring outside.
Not quite long, he requested that his ward be changed and that if Ashley came by, she should be told that he had already been discharged. The phone on the bed vibrated at first and then started ringing again but no one answered the call.
Jonathan understood that Alex was still angry, but he didn't look angry, which was quite baffling. However, this was Alex...the mood-swing guy with unexpected reactions and behaviors.
Alex closed the window and went back to the bed.
"It's time for your medication."
"When am I getting discharged?"
"Tomorrow."
Alex used his medications and closed his eyes, showing that he needed no distractions.
