BROADCHURCH SPOILERS

You always knew Alex was hiding something from you.

When he opened up to you about Sandbrook, you thought that had been it.

You were wrong.

It was a particularly difficult day during the case. You walked into the kitchen area, to make some more tea to cheer everyone up when you noticed Alec, leaning over the sink, panting.

You were about to ask what was wrong when he pulled something out of his pocket.

Pills.

He took two and swallowed them with a glass of water.

"Are you on medication?" You asked suddenly.

He jumped, spinning around.

"That's none of your business," he grumbled.

"I kind of think it is. If you've got some kind of health concern, I should atleast know about it."

"This is my issue, not yours."

"Sir!" You took a step towards him. "I've basically been keeping you alive during this case. At this point, you are my issue. Please, I'd like to know."

"Once again, this is none of your business!" He shouted this time. "I am your boss and you cannot tell me what I have got to tell you!"

You folded your arms. "Fine. But if you're so independent then maybe I can finally trust you to take care for yourself. Can I remind you who makes sure you actually eat and sleep, instead of working yourself to death 24/7? You- You can't pretend that I'm just an ordinary colleague anymore! I've literally been keeping you from going insane! Believe it or not, I actually like you! And I think that if anyone can solve this case, it's you and Ellie. So if you want to solve this case, then you need to realise that I am trying to help."

"I don't need your help, I'm a grown ass man!"

You scoffed. "Fine then. Don't expect me to give a shit about you anymore." You spun around and stormed back to your desk.

"Good. Because it is damn unprofessional!" He yelled after you, getting everyone's attention.

He glared at the faces around him. "Oh, fuck off and get back to work!" He ordered, before thundering into and slamming the door to his office.

You rolled your eyes.

Fine. Fuck him.

Later that night, you were in your room, when something occurred to you.

Unable to get it out of your head, you left your room and walked down the corridor to Alec's.

"Sir, listen, I was just thinking, have we considered that-?"

You'd been about to knock when you realised his door was slightly ajar.

You furrowed your brow. "Hardy?" You pushed the door open slightly as you entered. "Sir, are you okay?"

He was nowhere to be seen, and you found the door to the bathroom barely hanging open.

"Make yourself decent I'm coming in," you warned.

You gasped as you walked in.

He was unconsciously on the floor, a little bit of blood behind his head.

"Oh, fuck fuck fuck. Sir?" You shook him.

He didn't respond.

"Oh, Jesus fucking Christ, Hardy! Hardy, wake up!"
