1000 years - The Doctor

I would die everyday
Waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid
I have loved you for 1000 years
I love you for a 1000 more

"What do ya reckon?"

Those words.
Four words.
The words he wished he'd never said.

You'd laughed. "Strange readings? Missing people? 19th Century London? Try and stop me!"

He wished he had.
He could've.
It would have been so easy.

He never had to open the door for you.
He never had to take the TARDIS there.
He never had to fall in love with you.

He could have left you, after you defeated the Slitheen. He could have dropped you off at home, and let you live your simple life, with your fish and chips and arcades and your mate Shareen.

If there was one thing the Doctor had always been good at;
It was letting the people he loved get hurt.

They were back, you see. That one problem he'd never fully be rid of.

The Daleks.

They'd been kidnapping people. Converting them. For their new Dalek army.

You and the Doctor beat them though. Easy done it. All you had to do was a simple temporal reversal. The only downside was a trip to Cardiff, and you owed Jack a visit.

The humans were fixed, the Dalems were gone, London was safe.

Easy peasy, right?

"Wahoo!" You yelled, skipping over to the TARDIS door. "It always feels good, doesn't it? Beating baddies. It releases those happy chemical in your brain, doesn't it? Like watching Gaston die in Beauty and the Beast!" You smiled. "Let's go out and see, eh? It's Christmas day, after all?"

You swung the doors open, grinning at the world.

And then the last Dalek shot you.

"No!" The Doctor screamed, running to the door. Before he could even see it, it used an emergency teleport and disappeared.

"No! No, no, no, no! Please!"

You smiled up at him. "Doctor..."

"Y/n! You're okay, you're gonna be fine, just stay with me okay?"

You closed your eyes. "It hurts."

"I know. I know, love, but you'll be okay. You'll get better and you'll be a-okay! Just stay awake." Tears slipped from his eyes, more tears than he'd ever cried before, but he needed you. He couldn't live without you.

"I-I love you." He whispered, brushing your hair with his hand.

You didn't respond.

"Y/n? Can you hear me? I said I love you."

He sobbed, body quivering.

"Please."

The tears fell from his cheeks onto your paling face.

"Please, Y/n..."

He closed his eyes, leaning down to press his shaking lips to your head.

"Say it again, one more time..."

His breath hitched as he begged.

"I'm not ready to lose you..."

He pressed his fingers to your pulse point.

"No..."

His thin body wracked with sobs, voice and hearts braking with each and every word.

"Tell me you love me, one more time..."
