2 weeks.
It has been two weeks since James got conscious, and 16 days since the Battle.
Still, there was no sign of Leo. Or Brielle gaining consciousness. Sure, she was getting better significantly, but she hasn't gained consciousness yet.
James hasn't left her side since he woke up. Talking to her as if she was awake. He told her about the memories they made together over the years, and how he saw those memories. How much he still cherishes them.
He told her about daily stuff going on in the camp. Today was the day that summer campers were supposed to leave. Percy and Annabeth have already left, although Jason and Piper stayed. James decided that he and Brielle should stay too, given her condition.
It was around an hour or two before dinner, and James was sitting by Brielle's side, as usual.
He was telling her about how Conner Stoll pranked some Aphrodite kids today by hiding all of their combs in the Pegasi stables.
The door of the infirmary shot open as a panting Conner Stoll told Will,
"L-leo"
Only one word, and James raced towards Half-blood hill.
And there, by the big pine tree-who, Percy had told him was once James' half sister-were unconscious Leo, Festus and....a girl. A really pretty girl.
Not beautiful like Bri, James thought, but certainly pretty.
He crossed the crowd and stood beside Jason, Piper and Chiron-who was now loading the unconscious bodies of Leo and the girl onto his back.
Back at the infirmary, James sat beside unconscious Brielle, and looked at Will and Georgina trying to heal them.
Leo and the girl didn't look injured, but they certainly looked exhausted. Really exhausted.
It was as if they had skipped meals and watched scientific stuff in their laptops continously for days.
And James knew first hand how it felt.
He looked out of the window of the infirmary and found all the kids of the Hephaestus cabin working on Festus.
Cough, cough.
James looked towards the beds and found Leo slowly waking up. He sat up on the bed after his eyes adjusted to the light.
Jason and Piper, who were silent till now, went towards him and clasped him in a tight group hug.
Jason looked towards James and nodded, making him come over and join the hug.
Leo said something which sounded like,"You'le sokin me",and they broke the hug.
"Dude, you have to answer a lot of questions." James whispered to Leo, gesturing towards Jason and Piper, who were now looking at him with serious faces.
"Guys, I had to do that. And see who I brought? My girlfriend."
Okay, James didn't expect that. Even though he assumed the girl was somehow related to Leo, hearing it from him sounded surprising, as if Leo himself was trying to get used to the fact too.
"We could've figured something out." Jason said, his voice soft, as if he was talking to a crying toddler who just broke his favourite toy.
"That would've risked you guys' life. And I couldn't have seen anyone of you lying here in my place. I-" Leo stopped abruptly when he noticed Brielle lying unconscious on the bed beside his.
His jaw went slack with shock and he froze.
He slowly looked towards Piper, then Jason and then finally a hurt James.
James was physically perfectly fine.
But Leo saw the pain in his eyes. He knew he liked her. And Brielle liked James too. Everyone in Argo II knew it. Even Coach Hedge.
On the day they went to the Acropolice, when James led Brielle to talk alone, Leo thought they made up with each other.
But now as he saw the pain in James' eyes, he knew everything. Brielle rejected him. But why? He thought-darn him, even Piper thought- they liked each other.
Seeing Brielle's unconscious body, he remembered how she slashed Gaea's heart then freefell towards the ground.
He looked at the bed on his other side and found his girlfriend-Calypso-waking up.
He offered her a small smile as she looked towards him. He had explained every detail to her about everything when they were coming to camp. So naturally, she recognised everyone, even Brielle who was slightly more pale than her usual self.
