Aik and Gofi’s dramatic bike crash quickly made it to the news. Reporters wasted no time in swarming the two, eager for a comment.
“Aluhir Motorbike Garage is responsible for all this, and I’ll sue them!” Aik barked angrily into the mic.
Beside him, Gofi was sobbing, her mascara running down her cheeks in black streaks. "My makeup was 700 MVR, and it’s all ruined!" she cried, dabbing her eyes with a drenched tissue.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Shaii fed Lamb some soup while they both watched the news. Lamb snorted at Gofi’s tears, but Shaii’s mind was elsewhere.
Across Male, in her living room, Officer Aiky watched the broadcast too, her eyes narrowing."Aluhir Garage?" Aiky murmured, her mind racing. She knew exactly who owned that garage — Bible’s cousin. Her suspicion deapened, and just as she pieced it together, her lips curled into a small, knowing smile.
"That’s it!" Aiky said aloud, just as Shaii muttered the same thing on the other side of Male.
Without hesitation, Aiky grabbed her jacket, informed her colleagues, and rushed to the station.
Meanwhile, Shaii left Lamb in confusion and raced to meet Aiky. They both arrived almost at the same time, the determination in their eyes matching perfectly.
Aiky opened the door to her office and threw herself into reviewing the case one last time. She spread out the evidence on her desk. “Is it really him?” she whispered to herself, tapping her pen nervously. “Am I heading in the right direction?”.
Just then, the door creaked open. "You're not mistaken. You’re absolutely on the right track!" said a familiar voice from behind. Aiky turned to see Shaii standing in the doorway, a determined look on her face..Aiky turned to face her.
“How are you so sure?” she asked, curious about Shaii’s confidence.
Shaii stepped forward, pulling out her notes and connecting the dots. "Bible is always carrying YSL bags, right? That lines up with the L-shaped logo marks on the victims’ necks. He always uses red pens, which explains the red ink found on Kohinoor’s arm. And remember how the bodies were missing toes? Bible has a foot fetish, something Pop has even joked about. And then there’s the student card we found shoved in Raaidh’s mouth — He was missing his card the night after Raaidh’s murder.”
Aiky stared at Shaii, everything falling into place. She nodded, taking it all in “You’ve been a huge help,” she admitted, just as Officer Shaifaan knocked on the door and entered with a tray of sandwiches.
"I thought you could use a break," Shaifaan said with a shy smile, setting the sandwiches down.
Aiky’s eyes flared with irritation. “A simple college girl solved this case better than a qualified officer like you! Shame on you, Shaifaan!” she snapped, her voice sharp.
“I’m sorry, ma’am,” Shaifaan stammered, his head low.
"Forget it. Get in the car. We're heading to Bible’s place," Aiky ordered, brushing off his apology.
Aiky and her team arrived at Bible’s house and arrested him on the spot. He protested, his face pale with fear. “It wasn’t me! I swear!” Bible cried, but Aiky wasn’t having it.
As Bible was handcuffed and led away, Pop sobbed helplessly on the sidelines, devastated by the sight of her boyfriend being taken away.
A Month LaterAiky finally took the break she desperately needed. It was a hot afternoon, and she sat at the beach with Manje Shaifaan, both enjoying ice creams. After the intensity of the past few months, this felt like paradise.
