Returning to work after two days of doing nothing feels like hell. Waking up an hour later and dressing up a sulky In-Su for school is literal hell and getting stuck in traffic and bumping into a grumpy team
leader, God life can't get any more better.

After getting scolded for being such an irresponsible employee from the very beginning, I am currently in a room filled with thousands of documents. One of my colleagues, just like me got late, a step behind me. She has demanded we collect some folders related to the projects they had done for the anniversaries Of the group over the years. I am almost finished but-

" This is what you're looking for right?" Jung Hae In, my fellow co-worker speaks, His voice startling me enough that I almost stumble on my feet.

" You ought to look from the top They're arranged from up there "

He points out but the genius forgot that I am barely taller than an elementary school student.

" If only I'm six feet or something ", I mutter under my breath, grabbing the folder from his hands and placing it on one of the boxes we arranged the documents in. For some weird reason that makes him smile

" Why she needs them in the first place?" I ask instead. He shrugs.

" She doesn't want them. Mr. Namjoon is the one who asked her to bring them. "

" Do you know why?"

" I heard it's for the group's fiftieth anniversary. Apparently, Mr., Kim wants to do
something no one has ever done in the history of the group. "

Which makes sense. Taehyung always wants to be the best, even if that makes the people around him dissatisfied with him and makes the limited number of people he involved himself with disappointed in him; he doesn't care as long as he reaches his ambition. But the thing is his never-ending ambition right now is the urge to prove that he is more suited for his position than anyone else. Even though no one is interested and looking forward to grabbing his leg any time soon, in the first place, well, save for my pathetic excuse for a father. But I haven't heard about him for a while, either.

" I heard you have a son "

Hae-In tells me when we fall into steps
towards the elevator. Both of us carry two huge boxes. His one is a little bit larger and heavier than mine. I sway on my feet due to the weight as I give him a brief nod.

" I have a daughter as well. How old is he?"

" You sound like a matchmaker"

He laughs abruptly. Now, for the first time taking in his appearance, I realize he is not bad-looking at all. In case, he looks like a runaway model with his height, posture and beautiful features.

" Four, yours?"

" five "

A silence follows as we enter the elevator. Unsurprisingly, he's the one to break it.

" Her mother left her just after she was born. Apparently, she was too young and not ready to welcome a child. She so badly wanted to get rid of her. I had two options, her or baby "

I flinch and feel off-balanced than when I lifted that heavy box. It's like getting Déjà vu all over again. I once heard something Similar and have never been the same since. I just hope that he doesn't notice the way how blood drains my face.

" It must be hard " So I tell him.

" To style her hair every morning. Is
that why you're always late?"

He barks out a surprised laughter, not least expecting that. Good! pitying doesn't
make his situation any more easy.

" You're like a block of ice Do you know that?"
