In Hawaii, there were people from all walks of life. Some watched the dancers with intense interest, particularly certain aspects of their performance. Taehyung was not surprised to see Kim Wan Yeo, Jennie's father, among these onlookers. He was able to keep a distance of one or two hundred meters from him since he didn't belong to the type, which he was quite happy about. However, the fact that his beloved belonged to this group of partygoers, while he did not, unsettled his mind a bit.

The rays of the setting sun hit his fair skin causing him to almost sweat while the sea breeze stirred past cooled him down like nothing had happened. Taehyung's always coiffed hair for once was messy, blocking half of his vision as the stray bangs leisurely rested against his forehead. Contrary to the serene surroundings however his eyes were on alert,  following every movement of a certain raven-haired. Not that he didn't trust her, no would he leave her alone midst of those wild people if he didn't. But because he knew she had the least tolerance for alcohol and watching how she gulped the strongest drink out there in one go made him concerned, obviously.

So engrossed in his mission of watching over her beloved,  he didn't even notice the petite figure who was one foot away from him, not until she shoved a phone into his face, his phone to be exact. It took him a minute to come out of his daze. The clicking sound of his phone unlocking made him realise what she had done. Did she for real steal his phone and unlock it by herself?

"Future in-laws must stay in contact, what do you think?"  Jisoo, half-sister of Jennie, he later learned, told him as he gave her a cold glare, still annoyed over the fact she literally stole his phone.

"Not necessarily "

He tried to snatch his phone back but she was quick to dodge him falling back into one of the deck chairs he was sitting on before she came out of nowhere.

"Easy there mister. It might come handful for you someday "

Taehyung was about to grab his phone again, but he stopped abruptly when he noticed how scantily clad she was. Everyone in Hawaii dressed quite casually, but being so close to a woman who was wearing only a towel, even if it was for taking his own phone, seemed to go against his principles.

"I can help you to reach for your dream, you know that right? "

She asked him the blue pools she had for eyes glistening with something he didn't realise what was. He tried his best to act out he wasn't affected by the girl's sudden admission of knowing his ambition. That could be anything after all.

"You have the talent but your brother has the experience and he's talented as well, right? Now the thing you need is "  She stood reaching his side, he was hyper-aware of her presence and her physique as she leaned closer.

"Power. "

"And I could give you that anytime "

She let go of the hand that she was clutching to her towel to keep it from falling. Taehyung's hands automatically went to cover his eyes as he heard her laughter. She was still inches away from him when he removed his hands from his eyes. A blush found its way to his face when she noticed that she had been wearing a short gown without any straps underneath the towel all along and was still watching him.

"You should not remove your hands at all if you didn't want to watch,"

That was all she said before she left, leaving him bewildered and embarrassed. The distinct sound of the party was still there. Jennie was still mingling with a whole lot of partygoers, but Taehyung's eyes no longer searched for her; instead, they looked toward the beach miles away. Somehow, his future rival knew more about him than he would ever imagined.
