Taehyung sat in his room later that evening, staring at the military application form on his desk.

His heart ached. He had always been close to his parents, respected them, admired his father’s success and his mother’s wisdom.

But this... this was different. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was betraying them by wanting something they couldn’t accept.

As he sat there, a soft knock came on his door. Yeon poked her head in, her usually aloof expression replaced with curiosity.

"So... are you really going to do it?"Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"I don’t know. I want to. But if I do, it’ll break their hearts."Yeon walked in and sat on the bed, crossing her legs.

"It’s your life, Tae. Not theirs. They love you, but they can’t control what you want forever."

"You make it sound so simple."

"Maybe because it is." She shrugged.

"Look, I know they want you to have a stable life, but that’s not who you are. You’re not the type to sit behind a desk."Taehyung stared at her.

Yeon was always sarcastic and distant, but when it came to the important stuff, she had a way of cutting through the

"Thanks, Yeon."She stood up, smirking.

"Don’t get all emotional on me, Tae. I’m just tired of listening to you guys argue."After she left, Taehyung returned his gaze to the application. His decision was made, though the weight of it pressed heavily on his chest.
